Like many, I was awakened last night by the horrible thunder. I checked to make sure no tornado warnings, checked on the kids, and went back to bed. This morning there wasn't even a leaf down in my yard. I live near 21st & Riverside. About an hour ago, I decided to venture up to Target at 21st & Yale. I was shocked at the destruction just a few blocks from my house. All up and down 21st, trees have been uprooted, large limbs have fallen, electricity is off most places. Even Bells had a few trees uprooted. Harvard was shut down north of 21st, and there were numerous fire trucks and police cars. I eventually turned around at 21st & Yale, because it was clear the whole area had no electricity. It looked as though a mini-tornado had gone through the area.
If you are driving, I would avoid the area--it took me an hour to go and come back.
