This evening, May 31st, marks the 85th anniversary of the day the race riot began in Tulsa.
Most of us are now familiar with the 1921 Race Riot, despite years of brushing it under the rug. When Dwight Eisenhower liberate Nazi concentration camps, he immediately requested newspapers and media to document the atrocities, to ensure that the facts would be preserved for posterity. Sadly, such stories of rioting were kept silent. I believe that, if nothing else, it is essential that we mark this day by remembering that not so long ago, people were shot for being the wrong skin color.
