A banner was draped out on the eastern wall of the Mayo Building marketing future residential living...a sign of life to come!
It referred to this website:
http://www.mayo420.com/
There's not much content but it is definitely a sign of life to come!
Very exciting to see these sorts of banners over Tulsa's downtown building walls. I'm so used to seeing these in almost every other city I visit. I actually had to remind myself that I was moving through 5th/Main in Tulsa, OK. Very exciting!
They are currently installing the exterior construction elevator for the remodel. Have heard they are aiming for a lower price point than the other downtown conversions so far.
They expect to have this done and reopened by July per Macy at the Mayo....way ahead of construction despite the union protesters out front crying because someone was capitalistic and hired someone that didn't require breaks every 10 minutes...

I was downtown earlier this week. I walked by the bums, kids, and wives that were protesting and shouting "We'll be here every day, 'til the rats go away. Work for living pay, make the rats go away." I asked one guy if he had his book, he looked at me funny. I asked him what local he was from... blank stare. They don't look like well paid union men and he didn't respond like it. Perhaps I caught him off guard, but I doubt it.
Too good to do your own damn protesting?
The same union is protesting all over town. Including TU for hiring FlintCo who hired a sub contractor to frame, who hired a non-union carpenter company. So shame on Tulsa. Apparently that equates to a labor dispute with TU.
They still need to update that website.

Wrong building. This is the Mayo Building, not the Mayo Hotel.
They've got 2 guys sitting on buckets holding a large banner. Both of these guys were sleeping when I went to lunch today
This is the Mayo Building. BUILDING. Not the hotel. Y'know, the one on 5th and Main where Billy's is? Been vacant for 15 years or so?
