One of the arguements I've heard on the Kathy Taylor matter is that she claims she did not vote, and there is no way to PROVE if she did or did not. (except for an official government voting record, of course.) I presume the signature sheet has been destroyed. And Taylor was all over the point that there was no "back-up documentation".
So what is possible? Three reasonable conclusions come to mind:
1. She broke the law and voted, either as a purposeful act or an act of profound forgetfulness.
2. She did not vote, and some clerk made a fateful error.
3. She did not vote, and somebody knew she was out of the state, and voted for her.
If option number 3 is possible, the movement to require ID to vote makes even more sense. This would be clear-cut evidence that somebody voted using someone else' name, and it reminds everybody how very easy it is to vote early, and vote often in Oklahoma.
Politicos have access to the voter databases, and they know who and who does not vote. It would be easy to make 20 very busy people turn into 1000 votes on election day.
Democrats have opposed legislation to require voters to present ID before voting. Maybe they should reconsider this position.
