Getting the endorsement of the local newspaper has got to help a candidate. I know that they have endorsed many people who went on to lose elections, but overall I think their praise has been the little extra many campaigns need.
I always wondered about the order of endorsements. Do they do the candidates they like the most first, or is it the ones that they think need it the most first?
The order for council races so far has been...Jeff Stava for district 9, David Patrick for district 3, Bill Martinson for district 5.
The World endorsed both Bill LaFortune and Kathy Taylor for their respective Mayoral primaries this morning.
No primary endorsement so far in:
district 1 (surely Henderson, if any),
district 2 (Prather vs. Westcott),
district 4 (Barnes vs. Wing and Morlan vs. Brinkley),
district 5 democrats, (Kirby vs. Nichols)
district 6 (Mautino vs. Buchert),
district 7 (Eagleton vs. Gwin), or
district 8 (Christiansen vs. Magee).
Will there be any more? If so, who will be next?
