Title: City of Clocks
Post by: tshane250 on February 20, 2006, 06:54:46 PM
I have been thinking about what it is that Tulsa has that makes it unique.  Something that Tulsa could be known for besides oil, Indians and art deco.  Kansas City is known for its many fountains and Portland is known for its roses.  When I was looking through mspivey's pictures on his website the other day I noticed that there was a clock on the new parking garage just a few blocks west of the BOk building.  Almost immediately I thought of all of the other clocks that I am aware of in Tulsa.  There is the one on the Mid-Continent building, all the ones in Utica Square, plus the one given to Tulsa by OKC for the Centennial.  I am sure many of you think that this is corny and stupid, but I think it would be cool if Tulsa embraced the idea of becoming the city of clocks.  Clocks could be placed throughout the city on street corners and could even be used as part of gateways into neighborhoods and into the city itself.  The whole idea of clocks even pays homage to the song 'Tulsa Time' . . . living on Tulsa time.  Anyway, what do you all think???
