Title: Downtown Parking Meters- 2 Hr Limit to be Enforced
Post by: Relax on February 16, 2006, 08:38:24 AM
No retail [downtown] is just as well as the garages aren't getting "all-day" parkers into them and off the curb side parking which would support retail spaces. People parking in at the same meter all day long violates the time limit ordinance set by Code Enforcement (who BTW wont enforce).

Looking at the parking garage on 4th & Boulder you will see retail spaces and downtown workers utilizing the street parking that retail customers would otherwise use for those quick 5 to 15 minute trips into a store. Retail customers don't want to pay the $1.00 or more minimum charge to park 10 or 15 minutes in the parking garages.

After calling the City Code Enforcement I was told "we will not enforce the time limit on meters..." I don't understand the precedent being set by the City picking and choosing the ordinances it will and will not enforce. It seems to me that should invalidate every parking ticket written.

There just seems to be lack of incentive for "all-dayers" to use the garages.

Looking for solution...
