Well, it looks like they are packing their bags. If it is for sale, I wonder if it will stay open and if not, I wonder if this will do anything for Tulsa and future development? I would think not.
Six Flags Leaving Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City (AP) - Six Flags is leaving Oklahoma City for New York.
The Oklahoma City-based amusement park owner said today it will move its headquarters to offices it has in New York and sell White Water Bay and Frontier City amusement parks in Oklahoma City.
Six Flags President Mark Shapiro says the move is part of an effort to improve the value for shareholders and to reduce the company's debt.
Six Flags has 37 employees at its corporate offices in Oklahoma City and 40 more at Frontier City and White Water Bay.
Company spokeswoman Wendy Goldberg says "a number" of employees in the corporate office will be offered jobs, but several will not. She says a decision on how many workers will be kept will be made in a few weeks.
The workers at Frontier City and White Water Bay will continue operating the parks through the end of the season in late October.
Goldberg says the company also has a small corporate presence in Grand Prairie, Texas, that will remain open.
