My family's Christmas purchases (dollars spent, roughly):
Internet or out-of-town - 65%
In town - 35%
I feel a little guilty, to tell the truth. I'm conscious of how my city gets revenue, and I try to buy locally whenever I can. This is the first year that we spent more money elsewhere. But its so often cheaper and/or easier on the so-called "interweb". If this is the trend, then it can't be good for sales-tax dependent Oklahoma towns. If I were in a city finance department I'd be pounding the panic button right now.
How'd you fair this season?
