Title: OKC's GM plant will close
Post by: rwarn17588 on November 21, 2005, 11:29:41 AM
Yow. This is serious. Nine GM plants to close across the country, including Oklahoma City's. That's 2,400 jobs gone in OKC.

I know this isn't Tulsa news, but back when I lived in the Rust Belt, I knew quite a few UAW workers who commuted long distances to their jobs. It makes me wonder whether a number of Tulsans will be affected.

Sadly, I saw this coming a few years ago. GM had hitched its revenue wagons to way, way too many gas-guzzling SUVs. Once fuel prices started to rise, GM's cash cow vanished.

Meanwhile, Toyota continues its inexorable march to world dominance.
