Post by: Double A on October 12, 2005, 05:15:53 PM
The Hideaway Foundation Collage 2006 Theme:

The Oklahoma Centennial Collage Project is an eight-year event designed to create a unique collection of historic state art to help celebrate Oklahoma's Centennial Year of statehood in 2007. The first competition took place in 2000 and every year features a different theme for the collages, collectively covering every aspect of life in our great state.

Past themes from 2000 to present have been:

Year 2000 - An Oklahoma Vision of the Millennium Preserved in Images and Words;
Year 2001 - Indians and Pioneers: The People of the Land;
Year 2002 - Arts and Entertainment: Celebrating Our Creative Talent;
Year 2003 - Oklahoma Athletes: Champions, Young and Old;
Year 2004 - Our Town: Where We Live, Learn, Work, Pray and Play; and
Year 2005 - Heroes and Heroines: Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things

Endorsed by the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Centennial Commission, the Collage Project challenges individuals, schools, groups and businesses throughout the state to celebrate their creative talents through art, portraying the many facets of Oklahoman society and history.

The Oklahoma Centennial Collage Project has developed guidelines, themes and set up competitions for the last four years - and will continue to do so leading up to the state's centennial celebrations in 2007.

Ten thousand dollars ($10,000) in prize money will be awarded in 2006 by The Oklahoma Centennial Collage Project.. In 2007, select collages will be chosen to tour the state as part of our official Oklahoma Centennial Celebration.

All work consists of a collage on a 3.5' board (one-half inch plywood) and is accompanied by a descriptive essay of approximately 800 words. The collages and essays are judged and cash awards given to the top two places in each of three age categories (Elementary Schools, High Schools and College/Open category), including three $1,000 first-place awards, as well as a $2,000 Grand Champion! The seven top cash winning collages become the property of the Oklahoma Centennial Collage Project for long-term public display.
