Title: Unemployment at a six year low

This is good news, most likely due to Speaker Boehner's relentless focus on passing job legislation. Maybe.

It would be great news if the labor participation rate wasn't the lowest in 36 years.

I had to look that up, Conan.

" The labor force participation rate is defined as the percentage of the civilian noninstitutional population 16 and over working or looking for work. It is largely determined by demography, most notably the share of the adult population of prime working age, typically 25 to 54."  (Source: Federal Reserve)

It would seem that low unemployment and a low participation rate are linked.
