First time poster here.
Was walking by Greenarch and saw a sign for a sports bar called Lefty's on Greenwood. Said it was coming "THIS Summer!"
"We're the sports bar Downtown Tulsa always wanted!"
I took a picture of the sign, but I don't know how to post it. Hope no one else has already posted about this. If so, feel free to move this to the proper thread.
Good first post. It is always good to find new posters who have their eyes open for stuff we care about.
A good, real sports bar in the downtown would have me as a customer.
Thanks!
Sign said it would have a 100" projector and a lot of tvs. I think it'll be cool, especially being so close to the ballpark.
I may be wrong, but it seems like Tulsa doesn't have way too many sports bars in the downtown area.

They seem to have way fewer than you would imagine, and almost none next to sporting facilities.
There should be sports bars overlooking the ballpark.
Heard this was from the McNellie's group the other day. Correct?

create an account & upload the photo there. Then "link" to that photo from here.
Not sure if it is a chain or not. There are a lot of Lefty's sports bars.
I hope they sell right handed food and beer as well. If not, I am probably going to spill something on me.
I wonder if they do a Hillary Clinton special?
Two saggy breasts and a left wing.

You have to go to the humidor for that one.
I'm really looking forward to a downtown sports bar. It says coming this summer but there is no sign of activity and knowing how these things take place my guess would be late fall at the absolute earliest.

Would be awesome if they could open up in time for the World Cup. Not sounding good though
Did you know there is a soccer restaurant in Tulsa?
Agave at 61st and Sheridan has TVs everywhere always showing soccer from around the world. The food is really good Mexican too.

Supposedly it's owned by the same family that owns either El Tequila or Senor Tequila (the former I think)

Confirmed, this has been in the works for awhile now.

Are they aware there are inspections and fees? I would have to have the opening delayed.
Facebook post today. I will definitely be visiting this place.
QuoteMcNellie's Group is very happy to share this announcement from Elliot Nelson:
Excited to be working on a sportsbar and brewpub by OneOk field. Eric Marshall overseeing the beer. Coming Spring/Summer 2015. Get excited, I know we are. We've been talking about it for 4 years and it's finally happening! Any name ideas? "Front Office" is the favorite right now with "Wheelhouse" and "Elgin Park" as close seconds. — at ONEOK Field.

Still pretty sure that McNellies group isn't involved with Lefty's.
I'm assuming that this project is the same place that was being discussed as Lefty's, though I'm sure the concept has changed over time and is no longer going to be called Lefty's. I highly doubt there would be two sports bars in the same building.

https://www.facebook.com/LeftysOnGreenwood No word here, so I'm assuming they're separate establishments.

QuoteThe planned location is right across the street from the ONEOK field ticket windows in an existing building.
The ticket windows on Archer would put it in the U-Haul Building. My guess is that the McNellie's Sports Bar will be in the red building at Brady and Elgin.
Hope this clears some stuff up: http://www.tulsaworld.com/business/lefty-s-restaurant-to-debut-soon-in-downtown-tulsa/article_13490281-3104-5d8a-a99c-d34c3c406cb2.html#user-comment-area (http://www.tulsaworld.com/business/lefty-s-restaurant-to-debut-soon-in-downtown-tulsa/article_13490281-3104-5d8a-a99c-d34c3c406cb2.html#user-comment-area)
Was wondering how servers are going to get access to that patio that was just installed. Hopefully they won't have to use the main entrance.
There will be a door installed to the patio.
Looks like a Subway is going to occupy the space next to Lefty's, can anyone confirm?

The sign says Subway. I think that's solid intel.
Signage is up and you can see through the window that the interior is coming together nicely. The lack of promotion is concerning though. The only reason I know about it is because I happened to drive by it. I hope they aren't relying solely on Drillers games for business.

Didn't hear much about Fat Guy's either until they opened. Maybe they're being conservative with marketing based on previous business models? Only thing I can think of. Fat Guys isn't doing too shabby now.

From what I've heard, they're doing a soft-open phase.

I went to Lefty's twice yesterday. Had the nachos for lunch and broccoli soup for dinner.
I was very impressed with the staff, the feel of the place and the menu. It could turn out to be a hangout...
A friend and I watched basketball there a week or two ago. Drinks were good, good amount of TV's, although I think they missed the boat not doing a large projection screen on one of the big blank walls. They had just rolled out food that day, the chicken wings were ok, but not great.
Haven't been to the restaurant yet, but just drove by there this evening and shook my head as I noticed there were no awnings along the entire north side of that building. Not pedestrian friendly and that will hurt sales. And not just for them. I don't get that.

We're you the one saying that awnings were "illegal in Tulsa" ? ;)
In seriousness, though, that was my biggest complaint with GreenArch while living there. It was all concrete and asphalt around it, with these little wisps of shrubbery. The only real exception was a sod patch in the parking lot so that pets had a place to go.
I remember seeing this rendering of the building (before construction had started) where there were trees around the building, and it would have been super nice. Guess they cost too much money to put in/maintain. http://www.tulsaworld.com/business/realestate/greenarch-brings-apartments-retail-to-greenwood/article_04374996-ea94-5034-817b-7940ad3400dc.html?mode=image&photo=1
The ball park has trees on the street.
Maybe the GreenArch building will look better once the lot across the street gets developed?

Yes, but to me, that's apartment living. Ceilings and floors aren't sound-proofed/insulated, and are "hardwood" (sealed plywood) so if you live below someone with "heavy footsteps" you heard every one of them. (I did). Pets are allowed, so if you're around someone who allows their pets to yap constantly or run around crazily, you'll hear that (same folks with heavy footsteps).
Interior wall to the hallway is thin, so if you've got someone talking on their phone as they are coming/going to the stairwell, you'll probably hear some stuff.
There was one instance where the people below me were having a small get-together, but had the music so high up that the Bass was rattling stuff in my apt. When I went down and asked them to turn it down, they were very responsive about it, super apologetic :) Most of the residents seemed to be part of the Teach For America program, or other "young professionals" (like myself) that worked downtown, so it's part of the crowd.
If you want an apartment that isn't noisy at all, go with the University Club :D

Center Plaza (Central Park Condos) was pretty sound proof. That is, unless the neighbors on the one side of our apartment were getting their freak on then all bets were off. :o
