Title: City Council Fun Over Massage Parlors
Post by: Cats Cats Cats on March 28, 2014, 08:06:04 PM
So the City Council Meeting got pretty interesting yesterday.  Its a pretty good video.

Blake said "choosing to objectify and victimize young women and putting them into prostitution through a massage veil." I think I would have to agree with Blake on this.

The staff photos are pretty interesting.

A quick google search for all hands tulsa escort comes up with some "naughtyreviews" of the place.  I'm glad that Blake doesn't take this stuff lightly. I can't imagine having to debase my morals to defend stuff like this for money. Way to go Blake.

And a follow up:
Massage parlor's owner may file claim against City Councilor Blake Ewing (http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/government/massage-parlor-s-owner-may-file-claim-against-city-councilor/article_496c429e-b6dc-11e3-bfd6-001a4bcf6878.html)

It appears that the "business owner" is looking to file a "amended tort claim"
I'm not a lawyer and don't pretend to be one...   Could the forum's lawyers chime it?
Is the fact that he's not suing for libel relevant in any way?

Truth is a defense against defamation, so they must be grabbing at straws.

I think the whole controversy and discussion is a brilliant marketing plan. This attorney should be in the public relations business.

This must just be an advertisement for Better Call Saul

If the business owner proceeds with a slander suit against a political official, things go bad for them.  Ignoring any merits of the claim - with truth being an absolute defense they are just daring Ewing to make his case that this is a cover for prostitution. That would be THE issue to be investigated.

Streisand effect.  It would blow up big time, win or lose.  My guess is any company that has a history with nuisance/sting would want to just quietly fade back into business as usual.

I know nothing about this business, but I don't think you want to give Ewing the cities resources to investigate more.

Well cannon fodder...  I guess you are much smarter than the owner and attorney.  Maybe the lawyer might be working for store credit.  Must be tense representing people like this.

I would hope for there to be a trial...!   And I would really want to be on the jury!!   My preconceived notions match Mr Ewings....let him go 'fix' his reputation elsewhere!!

Please let there be a trial and me get jury duty that day!!!

The clients of these places won't stay away due to any of this stuff... highly likely that it will draw more of those inclined - the thought process is that if the council is trying so hard to get rid of it, it must be just what they say, and they must be good at it!  I think it is gonna be a brilliant marketing move, if they can keep it in the news - and many talking about it - without doing any real court action!   Someone said there is no such thing as bad publicity....
