Title: The Era of Foreign Policy Facepalm
Post by: Gaspar on November 25, 2013, 10:19:51 AM
I don't get whether it's just more ineptitude, a hidden agenda, or simply a lack of respect for the rest of the world, but we've gone from one disastrous policy to another, straining relationships with allies that had been nurtured for decades.  Now we opt to reward Iran for it's continued attempts to arm itself with nuclear weaponry, and force the hand(s) of our allies in the Mideast.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/10472538/Iran-nuclear-deal-Saudi-Arabia-warns-it-will-strike-out-on-its-own.html

This is not rocket science (perhaps that is a bad analogy).  I know the president needs a diversion from Obamacare, but wagging this dog is not a good idea, and it really makes us look foolish. . .again!

Perhaps your understanding of the issues and decisions available is less than those intimately involved, better informed and more experienced. Or perhaps your Fox blinders, with the Yahoo tint, are interfering with your processing of the facts. Consider it.

Every media outlet is reporting our allies in the Middle East are less than pleased with this accord.

No, you are right.  We do not have all of the first-hand information. Perhaps it would be a good idea for the SecState or the President to provide that, because as of right now it looks like we are getting ready to ease sanctions on a theocracy that has vowed to attack us, and our allies, and continues to pursue those means.

I think it would be different if Iran had offered something substantive in return. They are going to get $1.5 billion in revenue, for their word that they will reduce their enrichment activities, even when just last week they reiterated their vow to destroy the state of Isreal.

I suppose I could be missing something. In fact, I'm sure I am, so tell me how this is a responsible action for us?

Except for MSNBC.  They're celebrating cheap oil as a result!  Wait? What?

Perhaps President Obama wants Isreal and the Saudi's to attack?
I just can't see any positive end-game.  Global oil prices would spike due to the destabilization in the region.  Every hardline Islamist group in the world would spin into outrage (more than usual).  Everyone would look upon us, and our limp handed foreign policy approach as the cause.

Perhaps the Obama administration could just create a website for Iran to register their nuclear weapons?

Didn't that kind of go the way that Glenn Bleecchh was predicting $3000 to $4000 an ounce for gold?

I think he was on the payroll of the gold shills at the time.

Wow!  Now that is some serious facepalm.

"Enrichment, which is one part of our nuclear right, will continue, it is continuing today and it will continue tomorrow and our enrichment will never stop and this is our redline," Rouhani said on a state TV channel on Tuesday night.

It may be time for President Obama to fly to Tehran and personally take a bow.

Kerry is really making the rounds embarrassing us.  I wonder where the next stop on the facepalm express will be?

Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel's biggest-selling newspaper, also quoted Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon calling Kerry's effort to hammer out a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine "messianic."

"Secretary of State John Kerry - who has come to us determined and is acting out of an incomprehensible obsession and a messianic feeling - cannot teach me a single thing about the conflict with the Palestinians," Yaalon said, as quoted by Reuters.

"The only thing that can save us is if Kerry wins the Nobel prize and leaves us alone."

That's pretty funny right there. Drudge is reporting that condemnation be made by Bibi.

In the United States, respect is earned.  It does not come with title.

It comes with title or celebrity:
