Tulsa Police will be out watching for speeders in construction zones beginning Monday through the end of the month.
They especially will be targeting the highway 169-BA Expressway interchange.
Tickets can cost from $150 to $500 and can include up to ten days in jail.
Police tell KRMG that if you get stopped, you will get a ticket.
Can I make a citizens arrest or issue a citizens citation the next time a TPD cruiser nearly hits me head on in a parking lot because the officer is too busy jabbering on his cell phone to notice my SUV?
All I can say is thank God for reverse!

If you make the attempt, would you please have someone video it and post it here?

Of course not. They are above the law. Don't even try.

I wish they would have a crackdown on crime like they do for "speeders" and "seatbelts". Just think if all that manpower flooded into high crime zones of Tulsa what a difference that would make. What a waste of manpower to have cops sitting clocking cars all day while the crime rate skyrockets.

Right on.
Call Mary Fallin and get her to fix this insanity. She's allowed way to much crime to exist in Oklahoma for far too long.
I've heard she knows one or two troopers pretty well. Ask her to pull some strings.

If your special interest can put together a couple thousand dollars in grants to pay overtime, you can get about any department to make the type and number of arrests you want.

This makes little sense because they have had OHP stationed there non-stop anytime they are actually doing work in the area, otherwise they take down the construction zone signs.

No, no, Michael. Your peeps recycle aluminum cans. These ones toss them out along the road.
It's not just the OHP, the local Tulsa cops run speed traps too--- when IMO that man power could be better served by patrolling high crime areas. Looking for speeders/seatbelts is a waste of manpower. I thought there was a shortage of cops in Tulsa? They got manpower to waste of speeders, so there should be no excuse for slow response times.

Of course, these are crimes too, but lets follow your logic (?) to its conclusion. Take down speed limit signs and stop producing them. That will save lots of taxpayer money. Repeal seat belt laws and go to court to fight federal laws on seatbelts. Once again to save taxpayer money by not enforcing them. Then traffic cops can go find real crime (of which we anxiously await a description).
Then sit back and pay your higher insurance premiums til they stop offering insurance in this state.

Your talking nonsense- I'm talking piorities, is it better to nab some guy on I-44 going a few miles over the speed limit or nab someone breaking into homes, or commiting other crimes. Let's focus on the serious crimes first, Tulsa's crime rate is pretty high. I'm against seat belt laws and helmet laws. The only reason Tulsa (Oklahoma) has no helmet law is because motorcycle riders protest in number, car drivers don't seem to protest. Let riders of bikes decide if they want to use a helmet or not and let drivers of cars decide if the want to use a seatbelt or not. IMO All seatbelt & helmet laws should be repealed, the only reason for seatbelt laws anyhow (who's kidding who) is money from the fines, it's just another reason a cop has to stop a driver and collect money, "Safety" is just used as the excuse to keep seatbelt laws. The red light cameras cause more accidents where they are used, but they still keep them because of the fine money so that goes to show ya that "safety" is not really the reason, it's money!

That's a load of self-serving BS. In 2010, over ten thousand people died in crashes where excessive speed was a factor. That's about a third of all traffic deaths. Our society has a legitimate interest in preventing and reducing such deaths. Crimes against property - such as 'nabbing someone breaking into a house' - are less important than preserving human lives.

OK, let's talk money then.
It's easy, the more people who die or are injured due to no seat belt/helmet use the higher our insurance will be in the state.
I'm guessing you don't have insurance. Since I do, shut up.

When it comes to seat-belts and helmets your actions are not just your own. The non-analytical Libertarian argument would be to say "They are not causing harm to anyone else by not wearing their seatbelt or helmet, so let them be", however that does not stand up to the necessary logic because this choice can and does cause harm to others.
As a former paramedic, I have seen everything that unsafe driving can do to people on both in cars and cycles. If you ride a motorcycle you are putting yourself at great risk by wrapping your body around a vehicle instead of having a vehicle wrapped around your body. Helmets save brains and give you the opportunity to at least pilot a wheelchair for the rest of your life. When I first started working at the Trauma Center I drove a KZ650-CSR motorcycle. After two weeks I couldn't' get on it any more. Each week we had several cycle accidents, all very gory and most involved experienced drivers. I kept thinking to myself that motorcycles make up such a small percentage of the driving public, yet they account for a proportionally larger amount of the fatal or near-fatal crashes. In the majority of instances it was not the cyclist's fault either. I became afraid to ride, and once that fear has you, it's a good idea to leave the bike behind.
Not wearing your seatbelt in a car makes you vulnerable to even the slightest of accidents and if you have children and they see you driving unrestrained, they are likely to do the same, so no, it is not an issue of personal freedom to not wear your seatbelt, it is an issue of personal responsibility to wear it. If you are wearing your seat belt and you strike a car where the driver and/or passenger is not restrained, and they die, you can be held accountable for vehicular manslaughter even though their death may have been prevented with a simple nylon strap. If your child dies because you taught them, through your own actions, that restraints aren't cool, you are responsible for that. I've seen crashes in excess of 60mph where the driver walked away because of a seatbelt, and I've seen fender-benders in parking lots that paralyzed the unrestrained driver for life.
A couple of months ago, my daughter Ava got in the car and announced to me that Nanna lets her ride in the car without a seatbelt sometimes. So without saying anything, I started down the street in our neighborhood and at about 20mph I slammed on the breaks and felt her hit the back of my seat. She always wears her seatbelt now, and Nanna got a good talking to. ;)

Don't know how they do things in Omaha, but you do realize that the police departments in most cities over 200k in population, have dedicated traffic enforcement departments so that they don't detract from other operations. The traffic divisions usually consist of both motors and patrol cars.

Short version, life got complicated by 3 attorneys, soon to be ex wife, and other issues, and lost my cool.
Found a good outlet, track time at Portland Int'l Raceway.
