Title: Credit Card Scams
Post by: patric on February 04, 2013, 02:40:04 PM

The customer service number for American Express is
1-888-258-3741

BUT

if you mis-dial the last part as "3471"
it starts out like the customer service IVR tree, but goes on to inform you that you have just won a cruise.
All you have to do is pay a small fee, which you can do right now with your credit card.

Really.  Some phone company helping identity thieves get toll-free numbers coincidentally similar to major credit card companies?

I must have above-average intelligence as I was never once mistaken that I'd called into AMEX when I called the travel company.

You've seen the "man on the street" interviews done here on local news?  People will fall for very simple things.
