Title: Transok Building (6th & Main) being turned into lofts
Post by: sgrizzle on December 20, 2012, 08:55:48 AM
Apparently the tenants have been told to find someplace else to go.

It's Kanbar so I don't know if he is selling it, or if he's actually converting a building.

And Wiggins bought the Arco building to convert to apartments:

TransOK: What a great building and the views of Main St and the Park are excellent.

"Wiggin has previously transformed the former Mayo Building, located at Fifth and Main streets, into the Mayo 420 apartment complex, which also houses the Downtown Milwaukee YMCA."

I saw that, very odd.

Here's the World article on it:

If the Downtown Milwaukee YMCA is here, I wonder where ours is?

Wiggins and Kanbar are now in court.  Judge threw out initial request from Wiggins for a temp injunction.  Not sure if the deal is off, but I sure would assume so.  Kanbar has returned the $200M Wiggins put down in earnest money.

Remeber when Kanbar was touted as the best thing to happen to Downtown? Those were heady days indeed.

All I know is that Wiggins requested more time for due diligence.  Kanbar said no.  The deal was off.

I understand Wiggins was working with Hawkins on some level.  Hawkins previously announced plans to make this building condos, but that fell through.  I got the feeling Kanbar's folks didn't like that Hawkins was still involved, but that's pure hearsay.

That's believable.
