Half an hour ago, Number One Daughter said she'd be ready to leave the house in "a couple of minutes." I'm considering a concept: guy time vs girl time. When a guy says a couple of minutes, he means just that. But for the female half of the species, it's a somewhat flexible idea.
Maybe there's a market for watches that show the relative difference. Maybe there should be sentencing guidelines for convicted criminals in which a female judge says, "You'll get a couple of years." Oh, the horror.
My 'couple of minutes' has stretched to 40. When she was younger, it reached 4 hours once. I've learned to be patient, reading email, downloading books, and watching the news on television. Maybe I can get a few other chores done while waiting, like painting the house or getting started on my taxes.

You've never used that concept before? My ex-wife and all my girlfriends (past, present, and I will assume future) would tell me "be ready in fifteen minutes". I'd arrive at their houses in about 45 minutes. Usually using the 'factor of 3' standard.
;D
I never thought to try to quantify the time stretching effect! Hmmmm. Need more data.
This is why I was trying to get her out of the house. We went to the Redbud Valley Nature Preserve this morning, and I know from experience that a nice spring or fall day brings a crowd to the park.

More photos are on my G+ page.
I lie to my wife's family about holiday meals. If I want to eat at 6pm, I tell them that we are starting at 5pm, whether they are here or not.
