Rubber match....
Peggy Nooner is telling Mitten's to divert the attention from foreign policy to the economy by drumming up the idea that without a powerful economy you can't have a powerful military....hawgwersh. I don't recall her telling Shrub he better not spend us into oblivion with a war based on a lie.
Besides, Mitten's is no military guy. He's a boss....not a Commander in Chief. He has no background in foreign affairs and his convention speech indicated a void when it comes to topics and supporting our vets.
Spoiler alert....we got Osama.

I heard someone defending Obama on the radio claiming that Romney's policies would be the same as his. And then went on to call Romney a war monger, and she was afraid Romney would get us into a war. Really?
Obama's biggest problem of this campaign is that he not only has to run against a tough opponent, but he has to run against/from himself.

Romney has in fact criticized Obama for not doing enough on Iran, when in fact the only room left for escalation is war. Unless you count bluster as somehow doing more. On Syria, we could give the rebels weapons, but there are apparently a lot more radical muslims in Syria than there are/were in Libya.
This third debate demonstrates how unworthy RMoney would be as President.
Liar Liar.... http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/jan/18/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-says-us-navy-smallest-1917-air-force-s/
Mitt's borderline. All he's consistent on are lies and errors.

"We have these things called aircraft carriers"....LOL.
Well that was..interesting. I'm not sure how Obama's snark will play, but I enjoyed it. ;) Romney seemed to melt down for a few minutes there, but overall wasn't too terrible once he got past his "I'd do what my opponent has been doing, but more".

I think the problem is that this was supposed to be a foreign policy debate, but Romney strayed from it. Now, not to detract, Obama followed, but the fact that the Repubs were evidently in the spin room 10 minutes before the debate was over is not good news for the robot.

There. Fixed your post.
There needs to be one more debate:
Tonight's Mitt Romney who agrees with Obama on issue after issue vs.
South Carolina debate Mitt Romney who demonized Obama's policies on issue after issue. :o

The job seems to do that to all of them in recent history. It could also be that they are old enough that the change in appearance would have happened anyway.

No kidding. W looked worn as well. Maybe because both were "youthful" from the outset.
I can only imagine what would happen to Huckabee if he were President. Did you see what happened to him as governor of Arkansas? ;)
I started a drinking game. I took a drink each time Romney said the word: "tumult" and each time the President used the honorific: "Governor"

Romney clearly was off balance at the start. He was stammering then managed to steer it to a topic he's more comfortable with: the economy. I believe the segue was along the lines of: "We can't have a strong foreign policy if we have a weak economy."
Foreign policy is always the achilles heel of the challenger against an incumbent. No doubt, many of Obama's broken promises on foreign policy since the last campaign are the result of the military and intelligence community saying: "No Mr. President, we really do need to leave Gitmo open." along with other issues which you simply cannot appreciate until you are in office.
I really don't have too much to nitpick about foreign policy the last four years, I'm glad OBL is dead, I'm glad Qadaffi was deposed with as little bloodshed and $$ as possible. I wish we'd just go back to good old fashioned CIA assassinations and coups when it comes to overthrowing despots. ;D I still question the president's commitment to Israel and his treatment of their leader.
One opportunity Romney did miss though was the accord that set the end of the Iraq war was ratified with the Iraqis while Bush was still in office. Obama simply carried out that timeline. I think he takes too much credit for ending that war.
I thought the president's overall performance was pretty good last night. He seemed focused and it was probably the best I've seen him in an extemporaneous format. I enjoyed the interaction between the Obamas and Romneys afterwards. I'd love to know what Tag and the president were saying to each other. Be on the lookout for some pretty creative memes today ;)
I'll give the edge to the president last night. It should have been right up his alley because he's been at the epicenter of our foreign policy the last four years.
(Well at least when he hasn't been golfing or taking lavish vacations). ;D
Just MHO, but if the true goal for the middle east is "peace" then doesn't it make sense that we will never get Palestine to the table if we are always in lockstep with Israel? Isn't this what the president really means with the "daylight" comment?
Crownan, you're being generous today. Come Nov. 6th, you'll still be voting your true colors...
