Title: The Walking Dead....tonight
Post by: Ed W on October 14, 2012, 04:24:48 PM
I get a kick out of zombie-themed stories, and I've written a couple myself.  But the very best of the lot is tonight when The Walking Dead returns.  I could only hope to come up with stories like this one.  It promises to be a real gore-fest over the next 8 weeks.  Given that I dream of zombies now and then, She Who Must Be Obeyed will probably complain that I'm yelling in my sleep again.  I hate that.

Is it any wonder I wake up screaming like a girl?

Damn it! I knew I should have gotten a box of zombie loads for my 12 gauge when I had the chance!

Looked like a .357 through the head worked ok, too from the shows I saw last week.

You know, the usual firearms in zombie stories are military weapons, hunting rifles, and high-caliber pistols.  Tonight, Karl, a 12-year-old kid, was using a silenced 22 pistol.  That makes sense.  Five hundred rounds weighs maybe a pound or so.  Carrying a lot of ammo would be easy, and the muffled report wouldn't attract attention.

.22 long rifle is one of the most useful all around calibers there is for a lot of general purpose hunting of small game.

I think those zombies are walking WAY too fast...not real believable.

One of the girls is shooting an automatic pistol where the slide does not move.  Little puff of smoke was about it.  From smokeless powder, no less.
