Some of the cooks from Penningtons have opened a restaurant on 151st a mile west of 75 in keifer. It's call Kari Okie.
That's been there for years. It first started in downtown Bixby.

I didn't know it was anything special. ;)
I wondered if they relocated or had just disappeared from Bixby. They were worth the drive when in Bixby... recon to follow later this week.

Man, I LIVE in Bixby and never knew of this place. WTH?
Black bottom pie was way over-rated, IMO.

isn't it just a chocolate cream pie?
I never ate the black bottom pie but my parents did. My Dad moonlighted there from TPD as security. It was a big treat for us to pile into the station wagon and go see him and have me some huge onion rings and a shake.

Wasn't even that good, more like a chocolate pudding which was a little bitter.
Lots of food from "back in the day" was over-rated and people raved about it because they never got to have it at home...now..just like Nelson's its WAY over-rated and .."black bottom pie" is made and put to shame by real chef's in real restaurants...food can only live on its legend for so long, it actually has to be "good" at some point and stand up to 2012 food.

Blasphemy!!
It was good for its time and considering it was a drive in. But the real treat at 'Tons was the huge jumbo shrimp platter with fries, THEN the black bottom pie. Later cruise through Webers and slog down a freezie.

Can't argue with the jumbo shrimp. There should be a shrine somewhere...
If you've not tried it at Bros. Houligan, they do a great fried shrimp. Most unusual shrimp breading I've tried.

Keep saying I'm going there, but every time I drive past and see the crowd, it dissuades me.

On 15th or 61st & Mingo.
They do quick table turns. I've never waited more than 5 mins to get seated either. I've only eaten at the mid-town location so not sure how big the crowds are out south.

There's nothing notable going on "out south" so the crowds must be a fig newton of Hoss's imagination.

I guess so. I rarely get further south than 120th, and that's usually for the occasion run at Irving Park.

I'm mostly between 121st and 71st. This year the garden varmints have caused me to make multiple trips south of the river to get replacement pepper plants.

Wow, I guess I'm a more dedicated southie. On occasion, I go two weeks or more without EVER going north of 131st.

Nah, I like it up on the hill above the flood plain. If if floods here due to the Arkansas River, you will be completely submerged. Do you own a boat? Keep it nearby if you do?

We've for a Sea-Doo. ;D
I've never worried about flooding, espescially not now since we're preparing to move......most likely further south.

I went canoeing on a few sod farms in the Oct. '86 flood. That was a wild view from about 131st or so looking south. (unless it's 121st which is north of the river)

How about a little help from this out-of-stater red. Am I f'd where I live if a flood happens?

There is actually real food south of the Arkansas River in Bixby. I've seen it. Carmichael's and Conrad's have produce. I saw a grocery store in the shopping paradise on the NW corner of 151st & Memorial.

I think you are OK. I'm not sure about anything close to the ditch between Memorial & Sheridan.

Take a look at the Topo charts. It says $15 but I think that's if you want a hard copy. Download and take a look. You are on the SE corner of the Jenks chart.
It looks like you are about elevation 670.
I am about 660.
ZYX is between 600 and 610.
The river looks like it's right about 600. Keep your SeaDoo in good shape ZYX.
Looks like the links don't work all the way to the maps. I'll try to get you close.

If all else fails, go to the USGS store, Maps, 7.5 Minute maps, Oklahoma, then select the map name. Jenks and Bixby cover the area you will be interested in.

You are probably OK from local flooding due to a lot of flood control work. If it rains like it did in 1986 or 88 and Keystone dam could be compromised. Get the SeaDoo ready to go. I don't know your exact address and there may be some local high spots. I just looked generally at the development across from W. Irving park.

I checked it out and your guess seemed to be about right. Understandably, I'd rather not give out my address.

I certainly have no intention of giving out my exact address. A general area is close enough.
