I am a 39 yo single white male no kids and no pets...
I have been frustrated with apartment hunting here in the Tulsa area.. I work in east tulsa and as you know east tulsa doesnt have exactly the best neighborhoods around... 21st and garnett etc. I was not a big fan of the riverwalk area south of I44.. a lot of crime moving in 61st and Lewis etc. so I left it down to two neighborhoods pretty much.. the riverwalk area immediately south of downtown and the 71st street area east of memorial towards garnett and maybe broken arrow... I looked at woodland park woodland oaks and others through there..
I also looked at University Club as well as others south of the immediate downtown... University Club had a nice view especially from some of the apartments i looked at from the upper floors.. Does anyone have any reviews of there or any of the other apartments above... both these neighborhoods are about equidistant from work for me so which would be the better neighborhood.. how about woodward park on east 21st and utica... let me know
im willing to spend up to 650 rent and would like to have little or no kids as possible--not to concerned with other ammenties in the apartments thems el... I think the riverwalk south of downtown would have less kids but i am not sure.. it maybe a little more of an exciting place and may cater more to single people i dont know...

Now what's wrong with East Tulsa? So many happy memories from that side of town....

When I've come back to visit, that is something that I've noticed: the East Side isn't really the East Side that I remember it to be.
I loved my five years at the Blair Apartments, 614 S. Elwood Avenue. Solid building, great balconies, and I never, never heard my neighbors. You can probably still get in under your dollar limit. They have 2BR, large 1BR, small 1BR, and studio units (complete with murphy beds) available. About 40 units total in 5 stories. On-site maintenance and secure parking.

Awesome.
Nothing is wrong with East Tulsa, just like nothing is wrong with China Town in San Francisco or Little Italy in Chicago. It's just that not everyone wants to live there.
As it stands, and I think the University Club is pretty nice, you'll have more stuff to do at Woodland Oaks than in the downtown area. If the arena took off, retail and grocery moved in downtown, and the East End took off it would be different. But it is pretty desolate right now. University Club is fairly close to Cherry street, 18th and Boston, Utica Square, Woodward Park, and Brookside, but further north into downtown wouldnt be my cup of tea until some hypothetical developments became reality.

I actually like it better the way it is now.
Time marches on.
For a single person in Tulsa with no pets prepared to pay $650 per month, you should have MANY different options to choose from, based on what you're comfortable with... most with 6 month leases.
I live in east Tulsa. I have a big house with an oversized yard and the best neighbors you would ever want.
But not far away is different than you remember.
Does anyone know about the 33rd & Riverside apartments? (use to be Place One-I think the name is Legacy now). They have been doing a lot of work on it. The location is great--right near Brookside, but I don't know much about the quality or price.

I remember an Eastland Mall that was bustling with activity-and the last time I was in the Tulsa area to visit, I think I could count all the shoppers there on just one hand. And the former Mall 21 on 21st and Garnett isn't what it used to be: a beauty college and a billiard hall tend to anchor the complex (which no longer resembles a mall), and the China Doll restaurant is no longer there that I could see. The shopping center next to it, Executive Mall, always tended to baffle me, the only place worth going to was Baskin Robbins.
I know time marches on, but in this case, it's about near erased the past!
