Everywhere! I eat Oreo's all the time.

I see them at Petty's from time to time.

What are they? Who makes them?
"A black and white cookie, also known as a half and half cookie, a drop cake or a half moon, is a soft, sponge cake-like shortbread which is iced on one half with vanilla fondant, and on the other half by dark chocolate fondant."
They are more cakeish than cookie and the cake has a lemony taste. There isn't a specific brand...I guess the most famous would be the ones from Zabar's? But you can get them at most delis back east.
I'll check Petty's, thanks.
I'm no help, either. I always go to the ShalomFest and stock up on the Jewish goodness. But I know one year theirs were mail ordered from some place on the east coast. So maybe mail order?
The closest place I've found to here is Cindi's New York Deli in Dallas.

They look and sound really good! If you find them, let us know. September is a long ways off.
Call Ann's bakery, they usually will fill any special order you'd like or maybe even put them in the case to sell that day if you only wanted so many....
I see them at Old School Bagel.

They have them! Thank you. It was as good as I remembered. :)
Glad you found them. I've never had one myself. How are they? (http://img.tapatalk.com/a6cd08bc-a24a-2231.jpg)

Approximately what size are the black & whites?
My guess is about 3 inches diameter.
Try Merritts Bakery on 15th & Harvard, they have just about everything in cakes & cookies. They cost a pretty penny but you have to pay for perfection. I dunno if they carry the cookies your looking for but they have a large selection of cookies & goodies.

Dunno because you don't live here.

Felini's also has a nice selection of cookies but I never recall seeing black and whites there.
Whole Foods had some the other day.
I did some this weekend for a friend's I Heart NY afternoon tea. There are 5 left in the kitchen that didn't get to go the party. Ooops, make that 4, I had one with my coffee earlier.

Are these a seasonal or celebration thing?
I've had them at Dilly Deli, too, though it's been a while. Their cheesecake is pretty good, too.

I don't think so. I know Mallomars have a 'season' but I think the black and white cookie is a year round staple.
