Does anyone have any idea what is going to go in place of Famous Dave's? I hope it's something tasty!

I know it's someone with deep pockets because they paid enough for the space that FD was willing to give up the Tulsa market and leave.
This is the first I've heard.
sounds pretty unusual.
Here's an article:

Did anyone still go to Famous Dave's?
Probably about 6 or 7 years since I was there. Just wasn't THAT great, and kind of pricey.
I always thought Famous Dave's was a burger place, never went. Guess I didn't miss much.
It's not horrible - everything is edible, just not great.
Oklahoma Joe gave Famous Dave an offer he couldn't refuse?... (Violin playing in the background)
This will break my bosses heart. He just loves that place. I tried it a couple of times when he got it for our live remotes here at the office. I gave it a big "Meh"

If true that is good news. They need another/larger spot than the one by Bass Pro.
I also heard someone was looking at the old Santa Fe Cattle Company location at 121st & Memorial. The friend I heard it from was speculating that was Oklahoma Joe's as well. Of course he had no basis for that speculation other than his own wishful thinking.
If this Famous Dave's was really profitable and corporate only sold becaue it was a too good to pass up offer (seems a little hard to believe), then it has to be another chain. No local joint is going to pony up that kind of money to open up in the middle of all those other chains.
Maybe a Ruth's Chris as speculated on this TNF thread?

Could be, although Ruth's Chris would bring some much higher price points to that stretch of 71st St.

Meh. Never really saw the attraction to Ruth's Chris.

That occurred to me, too. But as DTowner said . . . that's pretty pricey for the current neighborhood.
I find it odd that someone would make a large unsolicited offer for that location, considering the various other spots nearby that are available. Maybe being in the mall parking lot is more valuable that I would give it credit for.
I would agree that'd be an odd spot for Ruth's Chris. But, Mahogany is at 71st & Yale, so only two miles away. I still harbor hope Ruth's Chris ends up on top of a downtown building, whether it be First Place Tower or the Petroleum Club Building.
Ruth's Chris is good, but the steaks have too much butter for my taste.
The former Kodiak in OKC was taken apart piece by piece and moved to CO for a private cabin. Would it be possible this location will see the same fate?
The building is being torn down for a strip center.
And RC's will be on Yale someday. Downtown demographics do not support their criteria for location.

In before the cell phone store/nail place/cherry berry v17.0 comment!

Smart, given that the restaurant a block away that was torn down and replaced by a strip center 3 years ago is still 75% vacant.
Don't you know..every corner/block needs a look alike strip center..its what makes us Tulsa..and Kansas City, and Las Vegas and...oh wait...
Since I never heard of this place until this thread (and after it closed) I am unconvinced of their claim that Dave was Famous.
I wonder if the Firestone property tire place next door is also involved.

I've eaten at their place in other towns, and it was better than here. I would have thought a chain would be more consistent. But then, there's always Olive Garden...inconsistent to the core.

Goodyear is next door. Firestone is across the street.

I seriously doubt their location in Rogers has better demographics in the immediate area.

Actually from what I remember about that part of Arkansas is there are a lot of retirees there, and with being that close to the golfing in Bella Vista there is a lot of money there. It's kind of that hidden place that everyone knows.
I can only speak of the two RC locations that I know, and they are not located on a pad at the mall, they are located near an upscale (ie Utica Square) area. Looking at the area around Rogers Ark. you have Allen Canning, University of Arkansas, and as I commented before the area is an active retiree area. People bought land there when it was cheap and chose to retire there as opposed to other places. Seriously, you could win the lottery and move there and no one would find you.

Yes, there are plenty of retirees in Bella Vista (although you'd be surprised at how little money there is there these days; they've been cutting back amenities for at least 15 years now), and there are plenty of folks with money living in the half-completed luxury subdivisions on the outskirts of Bentonville. I said the demographics in the immediate area of the restaurant are not that great. And they're not. Pinnacle Hills, the nearby subdivision, not the commercial development in which Ruth's Chris is located, peaked well over a decade ago and all the newer subdivisions in the vicinity are mid-market at best.
Meh, barbecued chain has never been a favorite of mine. Smoke it all you like but you never quite get that metallic taste out of it. Maybe Gaspar can offer some advice on a way to rub the chain first.
This will be a Vitamin Shoppe & a Jos A Bank store.
What's going in at the steak place in front of Lowe's further down 71st? Happened to be driving own that way Sunday and noticed the construction.
I think that's the new Russell Stover's store.
It is. Nice store, poor choice of location.

I wondered that location too.
Maybe they figure we'll want some chocolates before we tackle the home projects.
Or hop out of the car after screaming at the idiot drivers in Tulsa for a chocolate fix...but you know most of the Tulsa lemmings will flock to the store as they do the crap that is Krispy Kreme and the restaurant chains on 71st...if only they would open a Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop ....
A picture to go along with our speculation:

And some pudding: http://www.cityoftulsa.org/media/207667/commercial%20march%2012.pdf (http://www.cityoftulsa.org/media/207667/commercial%20march%2012.pdf)
In case you can't see the lettering in the image, it's a Jos. A. Banks on the west end and a Vitamin Shoppe on the east end.
Looks like it will really spruce that area up!
Facepalm..dammit no Shoe Carnival or Supercuts going in for the mass's? That would have really made that area a place to drive too!

Supercuts is already about 100yards west
