This just keeps popping up in my twitter feed so I figured I'd help spread the word.

QuoteOKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma congressman is apologizing for suggesting that "killing a couple" of U.S. senators may be the only way to get a budget passed through Congress.

U.S. Rep. John Sullivan made the comments Wednesday during a town hall meeting in Bixby. When asked about federal spending, the Tulsa Republican expressed his frustration with the Senate.

Personal Post .Sullivan said that other than "going over there with a gun and pointing it to their head and maybe killing a couple of 'em," he didn't think the Senate would pass the budget that the House passed last year.

The comments were first posted on the political blog Talking Points Memo.

Sullivan spokesman Vaughn Jennings said Friday that Sullivan apologizes "for using a poor choice of words to make his point."

Was he carrying an AK-47 when he said that?

Yes.

Sullivan was wrong and quickly realized that jokes about killing people are never funny.

He was absolutely wrong but he is very worthy of being made fun of.  There's very little in OK politics not worthy of being made fun of.

I'm sure once he realized the crowd wasn't going to join him in murder he changed his stance and said he was "just kidding".

Oh gee....I thought it was Sully's way of detracting from the fact that he was absolutely useless in keeping the USPS from hurting Tulsa employees and those they serve. Come to think of it, has Sully ever really done anything for us? He's not only an embarrassment, he's a lazy bum.
