All jokes aside, this is due to Sharon Osbourne's successful fight against her own colon cancer. It's a disease that kills without early warning symptoms, so if you're over 50, it's a good idea to be checked. It's not especially pleasant, but then again, dying of cancer isn't pleasant either.
There's a history of it in my family. I'm due for another checkup soon. Should I post the photos?

The procedure itself isn't so bad. They give you some good chemicals which cause what they call conscious sedation. I don't remember any of it but I know a few people with some spotty memories of the actual procedure. The prep for the procedure, that's the unpleasant part.
I am alive because of a colonoscopy, and the surgery that followed. I recommend a colonoscopy to everyone over 50 and maybe earlier if you have a family history of colon cancer.

I'm pretty sure that having a smiling Ozzy "Prince of Darkness" Osborne appear on national television in his lovely home with his wife offering a lottery where a lucky winner gets a camera shoved up their a$$ is a sign of the apocalypse.

I didn't know that "Prince Of Darkness" referred to
that "darkness". Live and learn.
I had one done as part of my age 50 physical exam, I watched the whole thing on the TV screen. I was surprised how fast it is done, the scope seems to get rushed thru. In the end they gave me soveneer photos of the inside of my colon. The cost was covered by insurance and was (in 2005) $750.00 for the room and something like $650.00 for the doctors fee. The insurance company makes deals so they paid only $250.00 for doctor and I forget how much for the room. The test is not bad, the bad part is getting ready for the exam and drinking a full gallon of some brime water stuff and not eatting anything.

Some insurance companies pay for the whole thing (no pun intended) only if nothing is found. If anything is found, it goes to the part where you have a co-pay or deductible. If you ever have something found during a colonoscopy, you never get a "free" one again.
