thanks for posting those pictures. i am getting giddy for summer now.
The wafting smell of food brought from home and pot smoke is already starting to come to my sense memory....
Very excited.
The pictures look good, I also have been taking pictures of the progress, today they were installing the top frame of the "stacks".. The frame is really huge it dwarfs the work men working on the steel. The screen will have to stand up to huge wind loads so it's got to be strong..

Well you best let them know. While you're doing that, get some good pics and post 'em on here.

It's funny you say they were loading the top frame yesterday considering when I drove by in the afternoon they were working on the West screen, with the lower portion already up.
At least it won't burn down so easy this time. When does the wind testing begin? :)

As soon as Sauer gets all his equipment together

Any time now, it's March in Oklahoma.

He could just stand out front of it and start talking. That should be sufficient.
My latest photos, taken Sunday late, so the lighting kinda sucky. Plus, it's my first time shooting in RAW (as opposed to JPG), so I had to convert to JPG for Flickr. Not as difficult as one would think.

The D40 is a nice camera for its age. You can bump it up to ISO400 and probably even 800 no problem. ISO 800 is a bit marginal on my D70s. Stupid ancient camera. :P

Yep, left this on 200; usually in low light I like to shoot at 1600, but I have a nasty habit of not remembering to change it back when I'm shooting in better light, so the blues of the sky get mottled unless I do a lot of post work on the photos. It even has a 3200 setting, but Nikon calls that "HI1" for whatever reason.
Does anyone know when Admiral Twin reopens?

Looks very close right now. We drove past this evening.

I will likely get out in the next couple of days to take more photos. I also plan on going down the 11th Street corridor from Memorial to past Garnett as they're doing something in the median (new light fixtures, some new trees going in...and, at 11th and Mingo in the peak of the median as it points west, some kind of monument looking thing to Route 66 that I saw for the first time tonight). I had hoped to get out and get photos of this monument thing to ask what it was, but I'll do that in the next day or so.
OK, my latest from the Twin:

Now, here are the photos of the other thing I was talking about...it appears to be an "Interpretive Plaza" at Metcalf Park.
First, a photo of the "sign" in the median just east of the 11th and Mingo intersection:
(http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7086/7161729965_1cb3b40902_b.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/oilerfan/7161729965/)
Second, a photo of the plaza still under construction, evidently.

Can Vision2025 speak to this project? What I see going in through out the medians is new trees, some different lighting fixtures (just the poles; haven't seen any light fixtures yet). This has been going on now for about three months I think.
Oh, and to those asking when the Twin will reopen?

For those not allowed into the paywall, essentially the soft opening will be June 15, with the movies shown being Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman, Rock of Ages and MIB III
Mrs. C has never been to a drive in movie. I'm glad we still have the opportunity to do that in Tulsa. Should be a fun date night.
It opens next week.
Tint your windows before any backseat action.

I don't like the open sides showing the framework inside. Makes it look half finished to me.

But if you look at the initial renderings, it was designed that way.

I agree. I was thinking they would enclose the ends to put the name back up there.
The first films slated for the Admiral Twin include Rock of Ages, Men in Black 3, The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman
I was hoping The Avengers would be shown there.

Just the idea that Blake rebuilt considering the cost of re-construction and doing this for a purely seasonal business which doesn't make money 1/2 the year is pretty remarkable. Everyone but Aquaman should go show their appreciation by catching some flicks there.

I hate to see what the crowd will be on next Friday. I'd like to see them replace the fencing, as almost all of the perimeter fencing looks rusted.

It seems to be all the rage to include zombies in architectural renderings these days. At least I think that's why they're always wandering aimlessly and staring off into space.

Zombies must like driving too, sounds like most traffic around town these days.
