I got to eat at Gold Star Chili AND White Castle last week while in Yankee-land. Only one I missed was Skyline, and that was only due to time limitations. I suspect Ike's uses cinnamon and allspice as part of the process - seems to have that kind of flavor - but since I got the good stuff...well, at it's best Ike's is not really that good.
And Billy should be ashamed of what has happened to "his" barbeque place. Slow but steady slide downwards.
And isn't JunkYard Dog doing the gourmet hot dog thing?
Why not steal the JunkYard Dawg idea? Isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery?
I heard they will call it "YIKES"... :D
For gourmet hot dogs The Doghouse on Detroit means I don't have to drive to South County

I don't mind driving to South County if I'm at work, since I'm only two miles from there. And JYD is definitely a guilty pleasure. A little like Andolini's. But the Ando in Owasso changed their menu recently, and although food was still good, it wasn't as good as it had been. Why tinker with an already good formula?

Cutting costs.

Absolutely! And if JYD isn't opening up new ones where people want them, then yeah, go for it. There is a market to be served.
Imitation is the sincerest form of theft....but we wouldn't have our iPads, iPhones, and iPods if it weren't for that.
