Title: GOP Debate Tonight
Post by: Gaspar on September 07, 2011, 01:29:18 PM
Since other threads were drifting, I thought I'd start one.

I anticipate that Brian Williams' first question tonight for each candidate will be: "Why do you suck so much?"

Except for Bachmann. He'll rephrase that a bit...

First question will be, "What drove you to run for this office?"

Rumor has it that Rick Perry is going to arrive on stage in the General Lee.

I believe I'd vote for him if he did.

Good showmanship but he'd still have to change his stripes for me to consider him.

I'm guessing it'll be more like this:

Gosh!  And here I thought it would be another typical Wednesday evening of dull television re-runs, but we get mud wrestling instead!  Things are looking up.

Perry didn't like what Ron Paul said.  Wonder if the other guy was a security guard.

That's just Texas politics.  Perry probably beat the crap out of him after the debate and then they hopped in the pickup and went out for beers.  On the way home they lobbed empty Bud bottles at American Recovery and Reinvestment signs along the highway and Paul agreed he would keep his trap shut!

Great pic. Classic body language Perry is using. Lecturing. Any good salesman, coach or seasoned politician knows these moves. Putting his hand on Paul's arm, gesturing with a single digit and staring at him eye to eye in a confidant, warning manner. In nature that signifies control and domination. This is a guy who is fearless and believes in himself. Would love to see the next pic with Paul's reaction.

I have a feeling Ron was browning his pants at this moment.

Gaspar, look at Paul's hands.  Palms down, slightly curled signifies submission.

My take is that Huntsman doesn't come across and is out soon; Santorum should stop referring to himself in the third person and is out soon; Gingrich thinks he can keep blaming the press for everything and is out soon; Paul and Bacmann have committment and will be the last to drop out.

What happened to your man Cain? Did he make any progress?

I am really upset with what I am reading on last nights debate. It "appears" Romney the Cultist won.

A good reason to want Perry for Prez is his ability to intimidate the weak. ;)

Have you sent in your Perry for Prez contribution yet?

He's literally watching Texass burn as he fiddles (and in this case it's Mister Paul)

Sounds like it was more of a pointed press inquisition than a debate amongst candidates from the bites I've heard today.

I watched the whole thing.  It was quite silly.  Ron Paul was like a toilet paper dispenser for candidates to wipe themselves on (as he usually is). Newt and Mitt came out looking like adults because they refused to fall victim to Brian Williams' attempts to start fights.  Bachman and Santorum were interrupted and ignored.  Cain had to jump up and down to get any attention. Huntsman looked and acted like a crazed Mr. Rogers, and Rick Perry was ready to fight.

It was moderated poorly, and the questions were weak.  Only three people stood out. Mitt cam out looking most presidential. Newt was simply annoyed by the moderators, and made that known.  Perry came out looking like he can beat up your dad!

Nancy has instructed security at the Reagan library never to admit Brian Williams again.

What was the question posed of Gov. Perry?  "There's been 214 (or however many) people executed in your state.  How do you sleep at night?"

Really?  That's a formal debate question?  Sounds more like reading from the HuffPo teleprompter.

Looks like Perry won't be getting the cop-killer or serial rapist vote.  Damn shame.

He actually responded quite eloquently, and got an ovation from the crowd.  Brian Williams made a face like he was trying to squeeze out a fart but didn't know whether it was going to be dry or not.

It's a set up for the future democratic ads....Willie Horton turned inside out. Perry's made a few errors....hopefully these bad judgments will not be used by Romney...we need Perry to get the GOP nod.

Ok, so I steer clear of national politic on the interwebs buuuuut,

The people hooting the crowd for a couple hundred people having been executed was f-word disgusting.  I realize there are people who commit acts that are deranged and awful.  But cheering for their deaths is sick.  I wonder if anyone has really thought about perry's religious commitments (you know, that one religion where some guy was executed publicly by action of the state and the state was spured on by a mob of people.  What's it called? oh yeah christianity) compaired to his "Yehaw, executions are fun, man!" BS texas attitude.  I won't touch on other things I don't like about Perry, but this response from him (and that of the crowd) turned my stomach.

Great stuff here:  http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/10/11/341228/live-blog-of-bloombergwashington-post-gop-presidential-debate/

"9:13: Romney mentions the jobs that his private equity firm — Bain Capital — created, leaving aside the thousands of jobs it destroyed.
9:11: Romney says he's not worried about the poor "because they have a safety net." Perhaps that's why he wants to raise their taxes. According to a Center for American Progress analysis of Romney's tax plan, he would give $6.6 trillion more to the wealthy and corporations."

Holy smokies....these people are hopeless. I'm placing a bet on landslide. Obama %52 of the vote while he bests his 08 electoral count. This takes into consideration Biden is on the ticket. If Hillary runs as veep, it's much higher.

Mitt will be forced into turning over his tax returns and then we will see his underwear from the inside out...plus that Romneycare model Obama copied. Then there's all the lies and hypocrisy and the rumor he belongs to a cult.
