My opinion of Christie changed with this story. WHERE ARE THE REPUBLICAN'S WHO HAVE THE AUDACITY TO STAND UP TO INTOLERANCE AND IGNORANCE!

I strongly disagree with his politics, but am glad to see him do this so publicly.
I don't think, however, he's a bellwether of a return to sanity for the Republican party. He's the exception, not the rule, and the 2012 GOP primary season is going to be all about how to deal with the Tea Party. And I think the answer is going to be, unanimously, to embrace it.
Even Christie, for all his golden boy appeal to the middle, would have to run right into the arms of the Tea Party to win the GOP nom if we wanted to be President. And that means saying some batshit crazy things in order to qualify to take on the President. It's no wonder he's not in the race.
The guy was way ahead of his time in both style and substance. Saw him at the Brady back in the seventies. Great show.
Always one of my favorites! Had a poster of him setting on the pot with the headline, "Phi Zappa Krappa". One of the parental units found it, was outraged, and got rid of it. That was about 1968 or 69, I think.
1969. Found it in the cloud! Google is your Friend!!
