Title: Cell Phone
Post by: DolfanBob on July 08, 2011, 02:27:53 PM
Just want to know what your thoughts are on updating my phone.
I am locked into AT&T for another year and a half since I bought the little lady her first smart phone last Christmas(The gift that keeps on giving)

Having said that. I have the first generation IPhone thanks to my listening to my boss rag on me about how terrible my phone was compared to his.
Personally, I really dont like the IPhone. I dont do the internet on it and if I did I would be even more blind and frustrated than I am having to pinch the wording larger just to read it.
So far the apps everyone brags about are just a toy to pay for and then tire of them as I have. Gawd I feel so freaking old !

Help me out you AT&T users as to what would be good for basic browsing if I ever do decide to do that. ANYTHING easier than ITunes ! Man I hate ITunes.
I listen to a lot of music on my phone and have maxed out this 8 gig.
The wife has the new Windows phone and just loves it. But it does Zune and I have never worked with that.
Camera and Video is ok but just not that big of a selling point to me.
So basicly I am asking you guy's instead of being beat over the head by a salesman.

I'm afraid I'm your opposite.  I'm looking forward to the new iPhone in September.

I want the phone that Sheriff Andy had in Mayberry. He just picked it up and said things like, "Sara, get me the diner".

I bought a Moto Atrix 4G (Android) in March.  Great phone.  iTunes is the reason I dumped the iPhone.  Apple, for as good of hardware that they can make, put out horrible, HORRIBLE software for managing it.

You can put microSD cards on the Atrix.  It's an AT&T phone, and right now a pretty good deal at 49 bucks.

Wish I could, but iTunes keeps me from it.  As I've said before, great hardware, crappy software.  Thanks alot, Steve Jobs.

<= Has almost 300G of content in iTunes without ever having a problem with it.

It's just that iTunes is SO incredibly invasive and a big bloated piece-o-crap.  It's tanked two iOS updates that required 2 hours to restore the phone.  iTunes = piece of crap.

My opinion, anyway.

I wouldn't touch a criPhone with a 10' pole unless I was swinging real hard.  Apple does not get along with BurgerKing, because the their way is the only way.  If you can use it, I would recommend Opera for an internet browser.

Right now I'm actually using Firefox on the Droid.  Works pretty well and allows limited addons that you might see on a PC FF install (like AdBlock Plus).

I don't even use FF on the computer.  I got tired of having to install an addon everytime I went to a new site.

Opera works great and is much faster than Safari on the iPhone. I use Chrome for most of my PC browser use.
