I went to a lunch there maybe a year ago and found it to be dirty and little run-down. The food wasn't memorable and the pies where maybe a baby-step from Village-Inn..
So why is this restaurant worth a writeup in TW?

We had a Marie Calendar's?
I'll miss their fruit pies, but that's about it. Every time I ate there, it was looking more-and-more worn out; menus were always sticky; constantly had issues with inattentive wait-staff. I haven't been back to eat there in almost 2 years now, except to purchase a pie for my birthday and a couple pies for holiday seasons.
Sounds like they are closing all of the Marie Calendars locations. The only thing they have left is Perkin's Restaurants in the US. I haven't been that impressed with them for about four or five years, and their frozen foods at the stores seem overpriced compared to others.

No loss at all.

Better place is Salad Alley on Kenosha across from Rhema.

There's still one out in BA? I used to eat at the one at 51st & Sheridan. They've got a parmesian dressing I'd kill for.

I believe they sold their frozen food business a few years back.

Been a couple of months since I was out there but yes...
Well, the whole company is in bankruptcy protection. So who knows how many stores will be left in the end. Does not look like they have secured exit financing as of yet. Could always go the way of Borders and Circuit City.

Report I saw on channel 2 also cited the road construction in the area hurting all the business at 51st and Harvard. Have people gotten to lazy or just scared driving into a construction zone? I have no problem getting to El Tequila.

Too many other options to deal with vehicle operators in that area.
Conan,
Start with Paul Newman's Italian Vinaigrette dressing and add freshly ground parmesan (or Kraft grated). Makes an unbelievably good clone of Olive Garden dressing and if what you are talking about is the one I remember from Salad Alley, that one, too.
I never went to Marie Calendar's, but I heard the company will now close ALL Perkin's restaurants, they are popular in Ohio and Indiana they are open 24/7. I wonder what will become of all those vacant Perkins Restaurant buildings. WoW.

I avoid that area- It's just choked with traffic and for long peroids of time. Who wants to wait in traffic just to shop at some store when you go elsewhere to shop and avoid the long waits. I think Tulsa has too much road work going on all at once. They need to at least wait till one major project is done before starting another. The mess on highway 75 is looking bad, that should be put off till I-44 is finished.

They are not closing all the locations.
QuoteThe owner of the Perkins and Marie Callender's restaurant chains filed for bankruptcy Monday with plans to close 65 of its 600 locations and cut 2,500 jobs, according to court documents.

I have to head that way today. Dreading it already. And you are right. I am really fed up with all these projects taking place at once.

Easy to do when you don't live in Tulsa.
Name a place to shop in that area.
