I sent this email to a media person about an hour ago, so far I have received over 100 emails. It was just a thought. . .
Correct me if I am wrong, but Weiner is an elected representative of the people, and his private account has been hacked (according to his own claim). This is a federal crime and any constituent he represents has the right to request a federal investigation.
Commerce in his own district may be at risk. . .get where I'm going? Had he said nothing, he may have gotten away with the whole "private investigation" thing, but he claimed he was hacked, and that puts the crime in the laps of his constituency.
What a great use of my tax dollars!
Apparenty I was correct. Someone perpetrated a crime against the people of his district. I hope they catch the bastard!
432 emails now including one from someone at CNN.
Time to set up some new Outlook filters!

All he has to do is come clean. If he is not guilty, he should be thrilled by a federal investigation. I really hope they find the perp. Can you imagine If someone like Coburn got hacked?

You have no clue as to what he is going through. It is easy for you to take potshots at elected officials from afar. You have never met him, but felt completely brazen enough to jump to conclusions and decided to tell the world your opinions.
Everything about the story is incredibly embarassing and as far as you know, he is an innocent victim. Not that would matter to the partisan bomb-thrower you have turned into. I would not want my family to be drug into a discussion about inappropriate pictures, true or not. You clearly have never met his wife or kids, but have no problem making their lives hell.
What a guy you are for becoming a voice for the Glenn Beck army.
I am in complete agreement with you. That's why I believe that the government (this is actually an actual government function) should remedy this crime.
I mean, the guy is newly married and, to have his poor young wife put through this unjustified scandal is criminal!!!

Sheesh RM, calm down. Weiner is a big boy and can handle getting picked on a bit. Much of the grief he is getting is due to his own bungling of his message.
It's a game, Guido. I just wonder how it plays out.
Colbert and Stewart engineered it.... AB took the bait.
And what a game it is. . .
Phone interview with an unfriendly person:
Her: So are you an attorney?
Me: No I am not.
Her: So why do you think your legal opinion has any merit?
Me: It's not a legal opinion, it's just a statement of fact based on my understanding of the law.
Her: So it's a legal opinion.
Me: No, I'm not a lawyer, but this is not rocket science. If I elect someone, and that person's personal information (i.e. identity, bank account, congressional passwords) are hacked, than the entire district of that person is compromised, therefore it is the right of the citizens of the district, represented by that person, to demand and be granted justice, or at least insurance that they have not been compromised.
Her: Are you one of Anthony Weiner's constituents?
Me: No, or I would have demanded an investigation immediately!
Her: Why do you think that no one has taken this same argument in his district?
Me: It's New York's ninth district. I don't know anything about those people, except that they elected him as their representative. . .
Still on hold. . .she had to pause for something. Probably checking my Twitter account.
End of the interview. . .
Me: When something is established as a federal crime, and that crime is established as perpetrated against a representative of the people, that representative does not have the right to pursue justice or prosecute that crime on his/her own terms. There is no "Elite" in this country that can claim to be a victim of crime and enjoy their own legal system above or separate of that of the people. He claims this was a crime. It is not his crime, it is OUR crime.

Townsend,
Public Servant/Elected Official, not simply someone famous. He has embarrassed the constituency that elected him. His actions reflect on the voters in his district. True, this is not the most damaging thing he has done, after all, he is a liberal, but it is by far the most distracting.

This one's safe for work:
Breitbart got pisssed at Weiner's accusations that he committed a federal crime by "hacking" Weiner's Twitter account.
So. . .
Breitbart contacted several of the women that Weiner has TwitSex with and now claims he has X-rated images of Weiner and will release them if Weiner makes any more stupid accusations.
This is exactly why politicians should resign when something like this happens. Weiner has put himself in a position to be blackmailed by multiple women, right-wingnuts, corporations, or members of the Trade Federation. This is obviously not new behavior for him either, which means that there may be more insidious skeletons lurking.
He may already be under the control of some individual or group who holds images or video of him compromising himself. Weiner may actually be a deeply spiritual conservative who compromised his virtue years ago, and those images have fallen in the hands of the Sith. . .now he is forced to carry on as a Liberal tool and do their bidding.
A good moral character is the first essential. It is highly important not only to be learned but to be virtuous. -George Washington

Meh. If everyone in a position to be blackmailed had to resign, we'd have two empty chambers and a commercial real estate crash in DC.
Someone's grody twitpics are the tip of the blackmailable iceberg. Sift through anyone's campaign donation list and I guarantee you'll find some job-ending leverage. R and D alike.
In the universe of despicable deeds, this ranks pretty low, especially when compared with such recent high(low)lights as the John Ensign, John Edwards, dude with the wide stance, or Mark Foley. This has some novel elements -- twitter, an outspoken younger Dem, some truly awful media appearances, Breitbart once again showboating for all he's worth -- but take all of that away and it's pretty workaday stuff as far as scandals go.

So it's okay with you that the lowest common denominator is leading the country?
What ever happened to "lead by example"? This sets a pathetic example to follow. Personally, I believe all leaders need to act and be held to a higher standard. There's no reason Republicans should be held to an even higher standard because they supposedly take the moral high ground, that's precisely what liberals are saying when they scream: "hypocrisy!" if this happens to a Republican.

"I know you are working on skits about me. Count me in! Let me know when I should arrive at the studio and what you want me to wear. You will get more viewers than you've had since Eddie Murphy, and once I completely exhaust all of the humor at my expense, the media will be able to drop it."

Paul (Pee Wee Herman) Reubens, after he was caught sticking it out in a Florida porn theater hosted SNL or some other show (might have even been as a presenter on an awards show) not long after his arrest.
First thing out of his mouth: "So, heard any good jokes lately?"
That's how you bounce back with some humor and diffuse the tension. Apparently, Wiener may have other ways of diffusing tension.

Who is getting bullied? The guy that lied to the faces of numerous reporters, his constituents, and the American people? The guy that allowed his "protectors" (as Brietbart called them) to falsely claim he was hacked and accused at least two innocent people of doing the hacking? The guy that sent pictures of his junk and his posing with his "pussys" (cats) to strangers? The guy that basically wiped his @ss with his marriage certificate? That guy is getting bullied? Poor, poor Weiner.

I'm just looking back at the coverage that Weiner got.
Barbra Walters- "My theory is he is married to this beautiful woman whom I know is the — who a lot of us know who is the chief of staff to Hillary Clinton and she travels a lot and it may be that he took that picture and sent it to his wife to say this is how much I miss you,
:D Bwahahahahahaha!
Can't wait for the SNL take.
OH Lord! Why is The View still on TV?
Barbra now has another take. . .that the reason he did this was because of "Viagra or Cialis"
"So, I was with some doctors last night and one of them said 'You know, we keep saying, why did he do it?'" Walters said. "He has a lovely wife. Why is he doing it? This is not my theory. That it is a result of Viagra and what is the other one?"
"Cialis," the various members of "The View" panel replied.Very soon they will be talking about him as a victim. Mark my words!
His wife is a very lucky woman, this is exactly how her boss launched her political career. I'm sure she is getting some good counsel.

Alec Baldwin has an article on Huffnpuff that is high-larious!
"For high functioning men like Weiner and other officials who have lived through such scandals, who are constantly on the go, that leaves one tried and true source of a reliable high. The affirmation that comes when someone lets you know they want to sleep with you. Or even cyber-sleep with you."
"Weiner is the modern, high functioning man. The fact that he is married is just one, albeit a huge, factor. I know many people who divorce over such issues of online betrayal. Appointment sex with your spouse doesn't always arrive when you need it most. A modern cell phone, loaded with contacts of willing fellow players, has a table with a red checkered table cloth ready for you at virtually any time."
"Weiner is a modern human being. So he ensnared himself in things that modern humans do."
I love the assertion that engaging in this type of activity makes you a "Modern Human" and establishes you as "High Functioning."
Weiner should just tweet a video of himself punching the clown (no offence Teatown), and the left will label him a GENIUS, and hand him the Nobel Prize for erections.

The more Weiner hangs on as additional lewd pictures emerge of him grabbing his crotch in the locker room, the more his political career fails. Really, ending up on TMZs website is not good for a political career.
My advice is to take the Elliot Spitzer route. Resign, go to work for a left leaning cable news organization, make a few million and wait for people to get this crap out of their memories. He's a relatively young politican and New Yorker's in his district like him, so a come back is very possible. But he's becoming a huge drag on the democrat party nationally and their message is getting drowned.

They need to draft a new code of ethics and make every Congressman and Senator sign a copy of it in which they agree that an indictment or felony charges being filed (conviction not necessary), marital/sex, corruption scandals, civil lawsuits related to un-paid bills or certain other actions are grounds for immediate dismissal from Congress. That way it doesn't become a two or three week long circus which distracts from what they were hired to do in the first place.
They need to lead by example.

Quite amusing from a man who has been an embarrassment to himself and his party and his supporters daily for the last two years, a man so without principle or conviction and backbone along with the other part of the anatomy pointed out by Carville, that even the African American Princeton historian Cornell West said of Obama, " when you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything". So Obama saying he would quit is what you call an empty gesture given that he quits over everything anyway. "

QuoteA year ago I was up late packing for Puerto Rico, having given notice that I'd be offline for seven days' vacation. My phone rang. It was The Boss, the late Andrew Breitbart. When he called, you answered, and a late night call was the meatspace equivalent of the Drudge siren.
"Oh my God," he shouted as a hello. "Did you see it?"
I replied that I hadn't seen whatever it was and he told me to check my email and Twitter. My mentions column was just a trickle: some of them were yfrog links, some of them included both our handles, @dloesch and @andrewbreitbart, along with the usernames of other media folk. I had one email from Andrew: a screenshot of a yfrog page which included a photo of gray material. I had no idea what I was supposed to be looking at but the longer I stared the weirder it got.
