We haven't had Mexican for a while and to some of the best Mexican food is in east Tulsa. This restaurant is one of my favorites for lunch. It has a varied menu that is very affordable and the space is spread out so it will be easy for us to get a table together.
I am hoping that Friday, April 15th works for others.
The location is 2601 S. Memorial at the west of of a shopping center. When you enter, it is a cafeteria style where you order, then they bring the food to the table. They have pictures of each of the entrees on the wall (all the best restaurants have this feature).
They have good sized portions and a nice mix of authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex. I particularly like their salsa and the free chips are made in house and tasty.
I usually get the Golden Burrito, which is a very large burrito with your choices of meat, then covered with a perfectly seasoned queso. The queso is barely hot, but you can still taste the jalepeno.
I will be there by 11:30 and try to get us a big table in the middle of the room. Go through the line and pay then come find me. I will be the big guy eating chips and salsa.
Who thinks they can make it?
I'm in.

You DO have pics...don't you? Gulp!
That's the old Legend's BBQ...I'll be there. Haven't been since it changed to Speedy, but I used to go to the Speedy's downtown a few moons ago.
We went there last night with a bunch of hungry youth soccer players. I think the boys ate a bathtub full of tortilla chips and a bucket full of salsa. We fed nine people for $80 with tip.
They don't have pictures of the dishes anymore, but have a wall of menu items and descriptions of food. They have everything you would want in a Mexican restaurant with over 60 different traditional dishes, but also have some interesting choices like a Hawaiian chicken platter and grilled Tilapia. My son again ordered a side of fried okra and says it is the best okra he ever eats.
They have also added boneless deep fried bite size chicken and fry bread that really looks like the original Rex's chicken. A pound of the chicken and four breads are $8.89. I think I will order that for the kids next time.
For those who drink, they have domestic beers for $2.25 and imports for $2.75 each.

I'm out. I'm taking the day off work to be Mr. Mom. I'll spare you all the excitement of lunching with my 2 year old. This time. ;)

A two-year old would give me someone to talk to on my level.
Sorry, but got a lunch meeting then. Maybe next time.

Bring her, we don't mind. Or are you worried Uncle Conan will try and indoctrinate her in the finer points of conservatism?
RUN AWAY, WevsUs!!!

The kid must be saved from Conan!!!!
I'm in. Thanks for the heads up, Michael.

Ha! Thankfully, she's pre-ideology at the moment. Much more into blocks, Blues Clues, and playing with yarn.
I'm more afraid that she'll scream and caterwaul and throw food than I am she'll start arguing about flat taxes and whatnot.
Come to think of it, I might plant her and Conan in a corner and have them sing the ABC song over and over and over again while the rest of us have lunch.
Hmmmmm.

I lost interest in Blue's Clues when the show replaced Steve with Joe. I mean, didn't they learn anything from a second Darrin on BeWitched. And, the whole premise of a dog getting paw prints all over the house began to bother me. I just was afraid that I was going to accept such a lifestyle myself.
I think I got out just in time.

Thank you for that, I needed a stress-buster this morning!
I hope we get a good lunch discussion going today. I am glad the new guy who is planning the south downtown grocery is planning to join us. I am anxious to learn more.
I will get us a big table and people can join us anytime between 11:30am and 1:00pm. Go through the line and pay for your own meal, then come find us.
I am also hoping we have some good conversations on the local city council/mayor smackdown and related topics. I bet we also flow into discussions about new downtown developments and school closings.
If you are going to be late, don't worry. Mas vale tarde que nunca (better late than never).
Unfortunately I will be a no show. I had to deal with a work emergency in Cheyenne, Wy. yesterday.
I'll be on my bike somewhere between Woodland Park and Deckers, Co. either bucking a 25 MPH head wind or enjoying it as a tail wind on the return leg. Have a great lunch and take pictures ;)

So wait. A work emergency yesterday means you have to ride a bicycle to colorado?
I'll be there.

No driving 16 or so hours on my time means I get to bring my bike with me and take a day off to go ride. ;)

I'd like to discuss the cancellation of the "can you hear me now?" Verizon commercials and its effect on Tulsa.
Hmmm. Haven't been to Speedy in a long, long time. Day off work..... but am waiting for ONG to come over to replace a gas meter.... which will happen sometime between 8am and ????

Afterwards they have to come inside and check your pilot lights. No matter how many times you tell them you don't have any pilot lights. Not that I'm bitter.

I know that feeling. They replaced a meter last winter and failed to tell me they replaced it and left the gas off. I wondered why that night (having a gas heater) it got down to about 64 degrees in my house.....I DO have one pilot light...the hot water heater. Everything else is electric start.
...still waiting... had a choice of "sometime after 8am" versus "sometime after 12noon"...... woulda liked to have made it for texmex to showcase my latest revamped plans to bring back the Roughnecks to the Fairgrounds (rimshot)...... unloading dishwasher... may resort to drinking cheap beer in anticipation of ONG's arrival..... yawn.

They may have (had gas) but I thought they were referring to something else so I looked it up in the dictionary. I just wanted to make sure of what JeffM was saying.
