QuoteTULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa County commissioners approved a seven-day burn ban for Tulsa County in an emergency meeting Monday, April 4, 2011.

Gusty south winds along with low relative humidity values over the next few days will create a high fire danger.

Commissioners said they surveyed all 15 fire chiefs in Tulsa County, all of whom supported the ban.

They approved the ban after being briefed by Roger Jolliff, deputy director of the Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency.

Jolliff said he consulted with the National Weather Service, which forecast very little rain over the next week.

Jolliff said the fire chiefs estimate that 20 percent of the recent wildfires in Tulsa County started as controlled burns.

Under a burn ban, all outdoor burning is illegal including burning trash, starting a campfire or grilling with charcoal, wood or any grill that could have exposed embers.

Anyone caught burning during a ban can face up to a $1,000 fine and a year in jail.

I can't cook unless there is an open sky over my head.  (That is unless it's Sunday Breakfast).  ;D

What would happen if you put it in the broiler on your oven?

I flew over I-40 the other day and between Ft. Smith and OKC, there were a couple dozen fires still going on.  Made a nearly state wide haze.  At least over the east half of the state.

I read somewhere that Fox showed him the back door, rather than Beck throwing in the towel.

FYI for those who didn't catch the "charcoal" part of the ban- Tulsa Fire Department is advising that grilling with propane or gas is fine on an asphalt or concrete surface no closer than 10 feet from other combustible material.

Of course that still sucks for me since I don't own a gas or propane grill.

Now the use of even gas grills are in question.

Tulsa Fire Department website has nothing timely or relevant.

City of Tulsa website says:
"With the burn ban in effect, the Tulsa Fire Department wants to remind City of Tulsa residents that any kind of outdoor burning is strictly prohibited. In the City of Tulsa, there is a minimum $220 fine for burning. This includes: outdoor grills, fire pits, chimineas, outdoor fireplaces, camp fires, trash burning, etc."
and does not distinguish between gas and charcoal.

Sweet!  I was wondering about that after getting the CoT newsletter.  It did not make it very clear.  I'm grilling again this weekend!

I re-checked the email, the surface you cook on must be at least 10' x 10'

My patio fits that bill.  It's 25 x 20.  And concrete.

Priorities.  Pretty lights with loud bangs > food.

Journal entry:  April 9, 2011.

Four days without grilling when there is perfect weather for it.  Reasor's just had their big meat sale.  The locals are getting wrestless.  I have loss significant BMI eating non-grilled meat, the nutritional value is obviously lacking.  My beer consumption is noteably flat - in spite of the awesome weather.

A few more day and things may get ugly.

You need to see your physician.

He didn't mention a supply problem.  If that is all the problem is, I agree with your cure.

Actually, ANY of the Marshall products would suffice.  I'm just on a RRA kick right now.  My favorite is a seasonal (Jamoke), but next in line is the Sundown Wheat.

From the mayor's office:

Tulsans should be aware that during the burn ban, outdoor burning is prohibited, as well as wood-burning and charcoal grilling. Exceptions to the burn ban include outdoor grilling with natural gas, propane or electric grills.

Now, on a statewide level, we are under a declared state of emergency, which means no price gouging.
Yet, just a couple of hours ago QT raised gas prices yet another dime...

Thought gouging was considered 10 percent.  A dime is about 4%
