Olbermann "resigns" FROM msnbc.
http://joemygod.blogspot.com/2011/01/keith-olbermann-resigns-from-msnbc.html
Where or where is that pic of Nelson Muntz.
Changes they be happin'..............
My more liberal friends on Facebook are hoping he replaces Gibbs.
Now that would be interesting.
If that happens, I'll give it 10 days before the first fist fight breaks out in the press room.
Well that's pretty weird. I don't watch Olbermann, but he was the core of their nighttime lineup and pretty integral to the success of their progressive realignment. I don't have much of an opinion from a political standpoint, but from a business standpoint that seems like a stupid move.
And I'll eat my shoe if Olbermann is anywhere near the Press Sec job. Obama's made a point of distancing himself from the "professional left," of which Olbermann is a charter -- if not founding -- member. He ain't getting anywhere near Obama's governing structure.
Olbermann'll surface again, and might take a good chunk of lefty viewers with him. If CNN was smart they'd snatch him up. But, you know . . . CNN just isn't very smart.

Good in depth piece.

Olbermann had been known for years as being a difficult primadonna when he was at ESPN and after he moved more into the news/politics realm. I've even heard of him being described by relatively neutral sources as "psychotic" or bi-polar. He's politely referred to in the World article as "mercurial"
He's got enough of a following he will pop back up somewhere they will give him complete creative control of his show as well as a production gig to boost his earnings. He might actually make a half way funny talk show host somewhere.

I always thought he was better with DP on SportsCenter, but he did balance out the right wing talk on Fox for a while. The last three years or so I thought he was getting a little over-the-top, so I quit watching him. Well, I did watch, but usually just his "Oddball" segments, which were pretty funny.
He's actually a decent humorist. He flat-donkey scared me one night though with a spittle-laced diatribe on President Bush on the Iraq war. I thought his head would explode at any minute.
I saw Rachel Madcow on a late night talk show and was really surprised at how pragmatic she actually is and saw some moderate tendencies. She almost made me like her ;D I think it drives home the point that probably most hosts are actually more moderate, but they make a damn good living off being a walking, talking party-line partisan while on the air.

I like Rachel as well.
Apart from being a Rhodes Scholar (hmm, who else was a Rhodes in recent political memory), she can be quite funny and isn't afraid to take on those on the right. I never knew if Keith was afraid, or if it was just part of his show to not invite Republicans on.
What gets me though is some of the homophobic vitriol when referring to her. I've seen it on this forum as well as many other places. Some of my best friends are gay. To me, it speaks alot to your lack of confidence in your own sexuality if you can find nothing better to criticize than a persons sexual preference.
No, I'm not referring to you C.
The left has officially lost whatever control it had over the Keith termination. Here's Kos' take (and yes, language warning):

Wonder if Mr. Teabagger will be welcomed back into the fold:
Here is genius Maddow, who I guess we should all feel sorry for because she is a target of bigotry, reduced to using sex terms to rail against the tea party.

Remember Tony, your buddies (The Tea Party themselves) coined the term. It's likely the left would never have used it had it never been used by themselves first! Haha.

I think the left would have quickly coined/adopted the term on their own even without the help of the Tea Party members themselves. It would have been way too easy.

You bet they would have. Oh, and I am certain that those teas partiers that used that expression knew the gutter definition of that expression when they said it. In any case, the adolescent and childish response to the tea party by those sophisticates at MSNBC (and some in here) by name calling speaks volumes.
I always thought that people who try to run down the tea partiers by referring to them in a derogatory manner are the same folks that sit in the back of a library looking up dirty words and giggling. "Hey, look up 'sh!t'". Tee hee.

But we'll never know for sure. Many don't give the left that much credit. Something about glass houses and casting stones applies here.
Conan,
Don't get confused and think that Rachel is a moderate. She is not. She is a liberal. A very intelligent and practical one with plenty of common sense and massive amounts of compassion for people. Still a liberal - very.
I like to listen to her when I get the chance for the balance to the steady diet of toxic-Fox out there , but I still sit way to the right of a lot of her thoughts and ideas.

I like debating intelligent liberals. Heck, most of my kin up north while I grew up were rapid liberals. My issue with Maddow is she is so damned smug and smart-assed.

You really didn't think the right had a monopoly on that, did you?

Yeah, but she is entertaining without being vicious. Smug and smart-assed are fun traits compared to some of the clowns out there.

How about being so DUMB-assed to run a story attacking Palin from a satire website?

I love dumb-assed crap. It is always so much fun!! And sometimes better than Batman's toys!

I think George W Bush did get it right - once - the eh in the name is incorrect.

I do too, like this video (h/t Treacher):
Bwahahahaha.
Wow! A news person who actually does some investigation, works to put together a story, and does it all with intelligience, wit, and a little bit of biting satire.
Compared to all of Fox where they just read Rupert's script book, sent out every evening on UPS to the various Fox affiliates. Special versions to Hannity, Limbaugh, and O'Reilly.

Um, I guess you didn't get it. She did ZERO investigative work before running a story from a satire site. It's apparently Beck's fault, though.

Naw,...you don't get it. Fox has done no investigative work ever. And yet, they still delude about 15% of the US population.
