Owners of Elote Cafe and Mod's Cafe and Crepes organized a lunchtime snowball fight at the Centennial Green in downtown Tulsa offering incentives of free queso and hot chocolate to participants.
"Snow days, it's really a day to catch up with office work," said Libby Auld, owner of Elote.
Auld said snow or ice on the ground typically means less business for her restaurant. "I just woke up and it was snowing outside and I wanted to have a snowball fight," she said.
Auld and Rusty Rowe, owner of Mod's, alerted fans and followers via Twitter and Facebook. Those people then sent it to other friends, and it, well, snowballed.
Almost 40 people showed up after noon Thursday, some driving the slick streets into downtown to participate.
