Title: Iowa, 2012
Post by: Townsend on January 20, 2011, 03:21:26 PM
Is it time to get this party started?

This article suggests Palin, Huckabee, Gingrich, and Romney.

Pawlenty, though IMO he's by instinct too much of a centrist for this crowd.

If the Republican Primary was held today, Pawlenty would be who I would vote for.  (as a registered Republican)

Romney would be my second choice.

The rest?  I would write their names on a piece of paper put them in a bowl and draw one out.   It does not make much difference which name I drew, President Obama will trounce them.

Are we already doing this? Jeez, let's catch our collective breaths over November.

I'm pretty sure the only thing of use that will be accomplished from now till 2012 is laying the groundwork for 2012.

If Pawlenty were running in 1988, things would be much different.  Or if he was running in 2012 in a parallel universe, that'd be something else. At heart, I really think the man is a moderate and if the Republican base were in a different mood or of a different makeup he'd be a shoe-in to win the nom.  Ditto for Romney, who one could consider a quintessential Republican -- from 1974.
