Let me preface this with how service USED to be to how service has degraded in the last three years.
When I moved in to help my mother back in 2005, our designated refuse pick-up days were Monday and Thursday. They still are. Back then, if I didn't put the trash out the night before, it was a good chance (better than 95 percent) that I would have to wait until the next pickup day, because they would usually pick the trash up between 5am and 5:30 am.
In the years since about 2007, this has gotten decidedly worse. In the last 18 months it's doing good to be picked up before I get home from work (about 5:30) to now, 4 times in three weeks, not being picked up until the morning after, and in this case today, the late morning after (still hasn't been picked up).
I realize the city has the contract up for renewal this summer. I actually hope they go to the polycart once a week service, city based.
I'd sure like to know why this contractor has gotten so lax in their pickups as of late. I don't know if there is any recourse at all, and I may be sounding picky about this. But we pay the city for this, and I don't like having my trash out for two days waiting for it to be picked up. Too many chance for the dogs/cats to get into it (although my bins have hard seals, not everyone else does this on my block).
I've had no change in service.
My service has not changed in a long time. They do come early so I put out the night before or have to drag it back up and wait for the next time. Sounds like you have a guy having problems with his route. Likely temporary.
Call refuse customer service at 596-9777.
If you have further problems, PM me and I will try to help.
For the last six years I have had to deal with once a week trash service. I used to enjoy Monday and Thursday service when I lived in town B.A.
I also enjoyed the city providing trash bags once a year.
Now I pay the same amount for water sevice that I paid in town and the trash service was part of my water bill back then.
I now pay seperate trash pickup of 38 Dollars a month to a small refuse company who has no competition and picks up four times a month.
A family of six makes for a lot of trash, If I miss the one day you can imagine the next weeks pickup.
I also have to set it out the night before because they come by very early, and when the neighbors dogs decide they like whats in the containers. I have fun doing the extra clean up.
So I cant begin to wonder how anyone would want to go to some polycart once a week service as I have. JMO

If you consider temporary 18 months...considering they used to pick up nearly like clockwork at 5 to 5:30 am every single pickup before that timeframe. But I did call and lodge a complaint. City worker indicated they would contact the supervisor regarding the problem. The trash still is on the curb as I type this.

If the cart is big enough (96 gallons big), then it might still be an issue with a family of six. It's just my mother and I, and there are some times there's not enough trash for us to set out but once a week. Plus, I helped my grandmother every once in a while and she lived in far SE Osage county (over by the Tulsa CC) where they did enjoy once a week polycart service since the mid nineties if I'm not mistaken. I liked it. You could keep the cart in the garage and roll it out and that funny looking truck would come by an empty it. I'd also like to see the 'fee-based' part of recycling go away, since I do recycle as well. Since the contract reverted to the old vendor, they've never been lax in their pickups. Always before noon on the scheduled pickup day. Their truck and cart looks like landscaping people, but whatever works for them.
They trash truck is usually at my house before 9AM. Recycling seems to be whenever they feel like it. That's OK with me, though. I only set out my recycling when I feel like it. (sorry RM)
My time seems to vary between 6am and 8am, but never had a problem with them deferring to the next day.
Now that recycling has reverted back to the previous contractor, it's gone by 8am on my pick up day. No problems with that any more.
I thought this was a NAPCAR thread... ??? ??? ???
LOL, I got it!

Where do you live and who is your hauler?
East 71st in Broken Arrow. Green Country Trash service.
How far out the city linits are you? You are paying at least twice as much as you should. There aree some other rural haulers out there. Graham's, Collin's, ...
Let me do some more research...while I am, drive around at look at any other dumpsters in the area from other companies...

It is amazingly easy to find your options and competitors in the trash business. Most cities require identification of dumpsters and most trash haulers use their dumpsters as their main form of advertising.
I am obsessed, I admit. I was married before this one and she would be pissed when I would drive around back and take pictures of dumpsters on vacations.

Mike I want to thank you for taking interest in my situation.
But I must come clean and admit I was wrong. I told the Wife about talking with you and when I said that we where paying double what we should be. She quickly corrected my ignorance. The 38 Dollars is a payment for two Months not one.
You really do know your business. Thanks for the help.
