I saw them several times in the late 80s. Good concerts.

These guys are still good. I'm going. It's not like some of these late 70s/early 80s bands who look like they have one foot in the grave. I saw a video of a concert they did last year. Although Alex Lifeson is a bit...heavier....he's still one of the most underrated guitarists in the industry. Neil...well, Neal is Neil. And I was pleasantly surprised at their ticket prices. They could easily charge upwards of two bills for the best seats, but they just charged 90 or thereabouts.

I am looking forward to it. I got my tickets a couple months ago. Should be a great show!
I will be there. My wife got tickets for my birthday!
I've been a long time Rush fan.

I swear this morning going to work, Joe Kelly said that Rush was coming to the BOK and they were going to be giving away tickets.
And immediately Limbaugh came to mind and I thought. Surely to Gawd they dont think he can fill that place.
A few moments later Getty Lee was singing and the commercial started for the concert. What threw me was KRMG giving away the tickets.......weird, kinda gave me a head Rush(couldnt help myself)
Help me out here guy's. Where is the best place to park for the BOK ?

It's "GEDDY LEE"...not Getty...LOL.
And if you get there early enough, you can park at the 100 West parking at 1st & Cheyenne. If not, good luck.

There are a couple of businesses at the north end of Houston that offer reasonably-priced event parking. The lots off to the East are more expensive, from what I've seen.

Free parking along any street. How far are you willing to walk? If a few blocks is ok, parking is never a problem.
If you want Walmart type parking then I'm not much help.
Thanks guy's but so far I'm still in walking shape. Now running is another thing. I only do that when chased.

I think they found one of those suits at Michael Jacksons house, but it was called a Bed A Pair. ;D
Ok I am going to expect a backlash from all RUSH purist about my thoughts on last nights show, but here goes.
Great visuals, Horrible sound. My favorite song by the band was butchered by them. And it's their song ! Spirit of the Radio. Geddy Lee could not even be understood. And I know the words. The first half of the show, I knew 3 songs. That's it.
I guess I should have paid more attention to their music realeases in the 90s and the 2000s. There again I probably would not even be writing this if I could have"UNDERSTOOD HIM"
When did concert T-Shirts go to 50 Dollars ? My cheap seat ticket cost that.
Also, I wanted to walk to one of the pubs for a beer and maybe a sandwich. Problem being is the Wife has a tough time with long walks and there is nothing at all close to the BOK for what I was looking for. Bricktown beats the H*ll out of Downtown Tulsa in that respect. I get that they want you to buy their high priced food inside, but next time I will plan a little better for a event.
This was my first time to the BOK. No way in the World that my Wife could sit in the upper tier seats. The view made her so dizzy she almost could not get up so we could move to other seats. I wont skimp on tickets again where she is concerned.
All in all, I guess I like RUSH. I just dont love them.
One of the reasons I seldom go to large scale concerts anymore. Sound can be a total crap-shoot and for the current price of concert tix I'd like to be able to enjoy the music.

Earplugs help. :o
It was an entertaining show, but the sound mix was really off at times. However, I thought the amazing talents of the three made up for the sound issues. It was also an interesting crowd, not a typical "see and be seen" crowd that often populate BOK shows, but serious fans who were there for a rock concert - jeans and Rush t-shirts. And, $50 or not, people were buying t-shirts like crazy.
Also, was anyone sitting (standing!) close to those guys in the red coveralls on the front row? I assume they were mimicking the red coveralls of the movers on the Moving Pictures album cover. In any event, they were really into it!
DTowner. You are right about the T-shirt sales. The lines were unbelievable, you would have thought they were selling crack.
I didnt see the guys dressed in coveralls, but I did see the two ladies swaying back and fourth dancing on the floor next to the sound mixers. Reminded me of the old LSD induced dancers back in the day.
The Wife and I almost got a contact high when the lights went out. It was a Doobie affair with the people behind us. Ahhh the past memories that blasted back.
Kids having fun at a concert. And I mean kids. The one sitting next to me looked to be all of a pimpled 16. Glad that talent and great music still crosses all age barriers.

What??? Surely you jest!!! They don't allow smoking in the BOK 8)
I detected a few herbaceous smells last night, but they were few and fleeting - not that I was hoping for more or inhaling deeply when they came about. Nothing like the concerts of my youth. And, yes, I realize how old that makes me sound.

I'll still take downtown Tulsa. At least the vast majority of our bars are cool. Bricktown seems full of faux trendy places, where affliction shirts are the norm. Our bars are much more down to earth, where regular dudes feel comfortable.

I remember those concerts...The arena lights went out, the lighters went on.

You can probably relive that if you go to some of the concerts at the Cain's or Brady.. Last years 311 concert certainly had a certain scent in the air.
Last nights concert was a lot of fun. I thought they put on a good show..
I thought it was great. It was also not as loud as most shows. Either that or I don't hear as well.

I agree, I was able to hear without issue after only a couple of hours
Here a couple of the photos I snapped during the concert on my phone:

Too bad AOX/FOTD no longer trolls here, he could regale us with what a crappy drummer Neil Peart is.

Unfortunately FOTD was struck by lightning shortly after making that comment.
Oh snap! It's been 5 years since I started this thread?
And anyone who says Peer-T is a bad drummer must like Country Music. ::)
Not sure which is worse, my hearing them in junior high school and liking them in 1978 or the fact that the ticket stub from the last time I saw them is 23 years old.
2112 was one of the best albums to get baked and play over and over or play before or after Dark Side Of The Moon or The Wall.
Not that that's happened in the last 30 years, but...

Rush had not been to Tulsa since 1984 and now they have been here twice in 5 years...and they are opening their world tour here. Stoked.

My first BOK concert was the Rush show. The sound mixing was terrible. I posted that on this thread right after the show. I have since been to several concerts there and absolutely love the BOK. I'm just glad that my whole perspective of the venue was not ruined by a couple of sound guys who were having an off night.

That should have been mine, but I was so sick that night that I wasn't able to go.
I did, however, make my first concert the Foo Fighters in 2011. That was a truly awesome concert, and another band that opened their tour that year in Tulsa.
I got my tickets, I got my tickets. ;D
