I guess there is more going on at the other end of the turnpike than we thought.
That puts the "Oh" in OKC.

It's because OKC is where all of our pastors and politicians go when they "do research"
If we could only link this activity to our convention business we could compete with Las Vegas and Atlantic City and others for the "Big" conventions.
We used to have a Red Light District in Tulsa.... What happened?
"...100 U.S. cities along varying criteria. The list is based on condom sales, birth rates, sex toy sales and rates of sexually transmitted diseases as determined by state health departments. :o
Austin ranked No. 1 followed by Dallas, Columbus, Ohio, Durham, N.C., Denver, Colo., Indianapolis, Ind. and Arlington, Texas."

Take some Jimmy hats if you are headed to OKC, Dallas, or Austin.
I love the Fark Headline on this story
Oklahoma City ranks as the eighth most sexually active U.S. city, first in nervous farm animals
Comments are pretty funny too.

Arlington Texas? There is not much of anything there, it's mostly just a "bedroom comunity" full of apartments and single family homes, I lived there for 8 years unless they had big changes in the past decade. They say that Fort Worth was once a wild place 100 years ago, it was called "Hell's half acre" I'm surprised OKC even made the list since they outlaw all sorts of adult establishments.

As a
bedroom community thats what made Arlington what it is. And as for nothing there, I guess people from Omaha don't think of Six Flags, the Texas Rangers, and now the Dallas Cowboys, as anything special. By the way that's the ORIGINAL Six Flags, and has been there since the mid 60's. And don't forget a GM plant, a former Naval Air Station, Lion Country Safari at one time, and Bell Helicopter. Oh, and one other small thing Arlington has, DFW AIRPORT.

While it may be close, Arlington doesn't own DFW Airport. Dallas and Fort Worth have 11 of the 12 trustee positions on the airport board, and then there is one at-large, non-voting position that facilitates communications with the four communities that border the airport property: Irving, Grapevine, Euless and Coppell.

Thanks Hoss, I know it doesn't own DFW, but IIRC it's in what is considered north Arlington. I knew about Irving and Grapevine, but could not remember Euless and Coppell.

Ever been to OKC? And I mean been to, not driven through or driven past, or flown over, I mean been to. There are now and have been in the past more "Adult Establishments" then Tulsa ever thought about having.

He's probably been to OKC about as much as he's been to Tulsa...

What you mentioned are just tourist attractions, -not places that will attract a business man or a business convention, Arlington is a sleepy suburb of Fort Worth. Bell Helicopter is in Hurst or Euless and the Lion Country Safari and the wax musium are in Grand Prairie. Anyhow, I was just surprised to see Arlington even listed on there. Arlington is just a city full of apartments and residental streets, hardly any industry. It must of really changed since my day.. Dallas is one wild city though, I can see why that made the top of the list...Arlington surprises me. :-X
I'm more of the opinion that Arlington is a lot like Broken Arrow, Owasso or Jenks. Aflluent, quiet looking little sleepy burg with a wild side. Show me money, show me oppressive conformity, I'll show you indulgence. Go to Craigslist Casuals before they shut down the adult section.

Dallas = Turdhole...I'd move back to Houston before I'd ever consider spending a week in that craptastic hellhole.

Arlington is indeed alot like BA or Owasso only larger, but not at all like Jenks, Arlington is affordable, rents are low & homes are cheap, it was a booming, growing city in the 1980's with apartments going up all over the city. The population is around 300,000 today. I don't know of any adult establishments in Arlington. realtor.com has the home prices for Arlington, Texas. The whole Dallas/Fort Worth are is really one big city, that's why it's called the "MetroPlex" everything is inter connected.

That's Interesting because in Dallas we called Houston "The arm pit of Texas"- I always wondered what Houston called Dallas now I know. :-X

Obviously you haven't been there either. I can remember two or three within a mile of the entrance to Six Flags, and some others around the area.
