For the first time in team history, the Oilers are now a farm team for an NHL franchise. The Drillers are connected to the Colorado Rockies and the Oilers are now connected to the Colorado Avalanche.

Probably should modify that to say for the first time in the history of Tulsa's membership in the NEW CHL, the Oilers are a farm team for an NHL franchise. In the old CHL (pre-1984) they were almost always affiliated with an NHL club.
And in all actuality, they'll be more affiliated with the AHL affiliate of the Avs (Lake Erie Monsters), since callups from the big club at this level are VERY rare, unlike baseball, which does AA -> MLB somewhat frequently.
