Title: Countdown to SB1070
Post by: dbacks fan on July 27, 2010, 11:56:14 PM
Theoretically it is less then 40 hours to the enactment of SB1070 in Arizona. There is no final ruling from the federal courthouse that has been hearing 7 cases opposed to the bill. At this time Phoenix PD and Maricopa County Sheriff Department have their plan in place to deal with the bused in protesters to carry out their civil disobedience http://www.azcentral.com/news/Blog/LaurieRoberts/91301 (http://www.azcentral.com/news/Blog/LaurieRoberts/91301)

I wonder if Al Sharpton will be here with his followers.

We've had lot's of boycots http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/2010/05/13/20100513immigration-boycotts-list.html (http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/2010/05/13/20100513immigration-boycotts-list.html)

And we have supporters http://www.azcentral.com/thingstodo/music/articles/2010/07/27/20100727elton-john-slams-arizona-boycotts.html (http://www.azcentral.com/thingstodo/music/articles/2010/07/27/20100727elton-john-slams-arizona-boycotts.html)

And evidence of illegals crossing into the state http://www.azcentral.com/community/pinal/articles/2010/07/27/20100727bodies-found-in-arizona-desert.html (http://www.azcentral.com/community/pinal/articles/2010/07/27/20100727bodies-found-in-arizona-desert.html) on a daily basis.

The US Govt has promised help, and not delivered, people that have know direct connection to AZ criticize the efforts, rampant ID theft, kidnappings and murders that go unreported and unsolved, and drug trafficking that is hard to get a hold of.

As far as tourism is concerned, it has seen little impact so far, but the true effect is in the future http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/2010/07/28/20100728arizona-immigration-law-tourism.html (http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/2010/07/28/20100728arizona-immigration-law-tourism.html)

So Thursday morning may be a quiet morning, or it may make Rodney King and the '68 Chicago Convention look tame.

Just as an added note, more people die illegaly crossing into the US in one month, than the murder rate in Tulsa so far this year....
