Anyone know what's going on at Camille's on Cherry Street? Two weeks ago I noticed a yellow ryder truck, around dusk I think, moving stuff OUT.
Now when I walk by it looks empty inside. What's happening there?
Doesn't surprise me if they're gone.

Wasn't this their flagship store? It was the biggest and nicest Camille's, IMO. The service wasn't very good though. I'm hoping Cosi moves in!
Service was always on the poor to horrible side there. Food was decent enough, but if the service at a place is poor I will give them 2 or 3 chances to correct it and if they don't I will never go back. Maybe other people had the same experience and felt the way I do.
I went to the one on Riverside PKY once a week for a long time. Then they raised their prices and made their sandwiches cheaper. Now I go about once every 6 months. I have even had gift cards the whole time so it would be "free" to eat.
I went to this location once and was surprised at the blandness and poor quality for the money.
I moved on.

And this location is close to the same size as the one at 71st & Yale. I sent them an email saying this would be a great location.

The owner IMO is spreading himself thin. His new Southern California gourmet hot dog biz. Coney Beach has alredy tanked in Bixby and I thought he had signed a deal with Wal Mart to put Camille's cafe's inside new Super stores. Havent heard if that actually happened.

I always kind of questioned the concept of a "gourmet" hot dog.

How long ago did that tank?
I Googled Coney Beach Bixby, OK and the website is Rex's Chicken. From some of the reviews I read from Urban Tulsa and Urban Spoon were mixed at best. It sounds as though they tried to combine parts of Pennington's with gourmet hot dogs and burgers, and add Rex's as well.
My company installed the Satellite TV service there. I thought that they were way over priced for what you were getting.
He claimed that the concept came from SoCal beach Hot Dog restaurants he had visited there. Just didnt catch on here.

Here is one from Diners, Drive Ins and Dives that I hope to check out sometime soon.
http://www.fabhotdogs.com/ (http://www.fabhotdogs.com/) You will need to allow pop ups from this site, it's safe to see the menu. The prices seem lower here than what Urban Tulsa had for Coney Beach.

Food critic or pro wrestler wanna be? You can't help but like Guy. I'd love to have a Marshalls or ten with him and Anthony Bourdain.

In the past year or so, I recall reading of agreements by the owners (Beautiful Brands) with In the Raw, Caz' Chowhouse, Cafe Ole, among others to franchise those concepts. With those deals, the hot dog place (and Rex's), the ice cream joint, taking Camille's international, and into Wal-Mart they have a lot of irons in the fire. However, it never seems like a good idea to let your flagship concept slip as you focus on other things.
I probably ate that this Camille's once every couple of months - usually on the weekend. The food was generally good, but a little pricey. It was never particularly busy, which seemed a problem given the size of the space.
This is an excellent location, especially with the patio that can be closed off when it gets really hot or cold. I hope something goes in that has a stronger night time presence. Along with the former Bourbon St., Cherry St. now has two good restaurant spaces available.

That would be in their contract that they have to supply their own hair products. ;D

Very true. Both are good locations. An outdoor seating area to the side of Bourbon Street would be a nice addition for any future restaurant there.
If this is going to be another Beautiful Brands franchise, I hope it's the first Tulsa location of Greenz. Salads, sandwiches, smoothies would work well with FreshBerry in Cherry Street. Their only other locations are in Dallas.
http://www.greenzsalads.com/index.htm (http://www.greenzsalads.com/index.htm)
The space at 1342 E. 15th St. that recently housed a Camille's Sidewalk Cafe now sits vacant — but not for long.
David Rutkauskas, founder of Camille's and Beautiful Brands International, which owns the franchise, said the franchise location on Cherry Street closed when BBI terminated its agreement with the franchisee last month.
"It wasn't the right situation for Camille's," he said.
BBI still has the lease on the space and plans to move in another brand in the next 90 to 120 days. Though Rutkauskas wouldn't specify which brand would be occupying the space, he did say it would be co-branded with a self-serve FreshBerry Frozen Yogurt Cafe. The mystery brand will be owned by a franchisee, while FreshBerry will be corporate-owned.

Sweet, I love Mi Cocina. And I can walk there from my house!
I'm hoping they expand the outdoor seating. There is no need for the curb cut on 15th with parallel parking already available in the outside lane. They could double their outdoor seating (and make it easier for people walking down the sidewalk) by filling that in.

Not sure anyone knows how excited my wife and I are for this! Another peice of Dallas coming to our neighborhood. We lived in Dallas for three years. Two of our favorite places were Genghis Grill and Mi Cocina. Since we moved to Cherry Street, Genghis has opened up and now Mi Cocina. Very excited.
By the way, Mi Cocinas in Dallas were always quite large and very fancy. They had a smaller chain called "Taco Diner" that would seem to be what they would use in a smaller space like the Camille's spot. Wonder if it will be a full Mi Cocina or a smaller Taco Diner.

It's officially a Mi Cocina! I'm excited. Might rename the thread or start a new one.

Good news for T Town. Way too many lame Tex Mex places here in Dallas and Tulsa. Mi Cocinas is a cut above the rest. Wife and I make it into their Highland Park Village about once a week and really like it. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed, although it is a bit pricier than say, a Chilis, you'll see some really interesting things on the menu. Each store has it's own atmosphere so I'll be interested to see what the Tulsa location ends up looking like.

I've been the ones in Uptown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth. Both have great outdoor patios. I'm hoping the one on Cherry Street does too.
I wonder if Beautiful Brands has any part in this? They originally said they wanted another BB franchise at this location after Camille's closed. I still would like to see a Greenz (a BB franchise) somewhere in Tulsa. I went to one in Dallas and it was great.
I did see where a similar OKC-based company has Tulsa listed as one of their "additional locations under development"..

my wife and i stayed in frisco, tx this weekend and tried to go to the mi cocina on legacy in plano. it was about 8:30p, so we didn't think it would be too long of a wait, even though it was a saturday night. we were definitely wrong about that. it was still an hour wait. we thought about waiting, but we were too hungry by that point. we ended up going across the street to a seafood restaurant that had no wait (which was pretty good). i am more intrigued about mi cocina now. i wish we could have tried it. we will prepare better next time.
