So far, I've celebrated my very own special day by making my own breakfast. Later, I'll probably do the traditional 'yard mowing of joy' before taking the family out for dinner.
But I'll be sure to slip in a power nap somewhere around mid-day.
Actually, since June is the perfect storm for us every year, what with having Father's Day, our anniversary, Mary's birthday, my mom-in-law's birthday, and bro-in-law's birthday, I'd be perfectly happy to put off Father's Day until October.
I got my Fathers day dinner yesterday when my GF took her dad and me to Savastano's. Also got the lawn mowed before that, and the pool cleaned after, so I got half my fathers day chores done early. Already worked on the pool some this morning (those things tend to be too much work) and done some cleaning around the house.
Father's Day == Dad gets to do a lot of work around the house while everyone kicks back and tells him "Happy Father's Day".
Yep this day is for all we dads. I always wondered when the terms changed from calling our parents "Ma & Pa" to Mom & Dad"? My guess is around the war years. I did some running today to relax this dads old body... A dads job is never done.
Had a great Father's Day. This was my gift. It was very hard to figure out what it was.

Everyone at work today wore their father's day ties. Boy were they surprised when I cam in wearing my father's day chainsaw!
It's quiet around here now.
Good thing I don't have any kids. I hate ties, already have a chainsaw.
You mean there are kids out there that actually get their dads something on fathers day?
That rocks- I wish my daughters would of got me a chainsaw on dad's day.. I could use one. Anyhow, The weather was great all weekend. Many dads on my street were having back yard cookouts with the family. Since my family is not here I just spent part of the day doing some easy running on the Riverside Trail.. BTW there was a bad accident on northbound Riverside Drive Saturday around 1:45 pm just south of 43rd street, I was running south on the trail and I heard screaching car tires, so I looked up at the roadway and I only saw the roof of a car spinning out of control, then there was a boom & bang seemed to be a one car accident and the car slid into a tree sideways, some other joggers and cyclists went up to see what hapened. One cyclist said someone cut him off - or a car was stopped in the middle of the roadway. Anyhow, I didn't see nothing about it in Sundays paper or on the news, it was a bad accident the fire trucks came and 5 cop cars surounded the area and closed off northbound Riverside drive, the driver was rushed to the hospital. The car was a tan Toyota. Parts of the car were scattered for about 100 feet on the roadway. Anyone hear anything about it? I was wondering if the guy was on a cell phone, ran up on the traffic island and over corrected and lost control.
