Title: Our highways are disintegrating
Post by: swake on June 09, 2010, 12:24:39 PM
Now US 75 is closed at 41st street due to gaping hole in the bridge over I-244

http://www.newson6.com/global/story.asp?s=12621008

Oklahoma's complete neglect of Tulsa's highway system is really taking hold now. I-44 out east has been closed repeatedly recently for several failing bridges, I-44 at Harvard was closed last week for a sinkhole and now this.

Graft.  Corruption.

It ain't rocket science.  Vote anyone in office out.  Vote everyone in office out.

I drive over that spot every day on my way to work, I didn't notice it being any rougher than usual this morning.  Apparently it happened an hour or so after I went over.  With any luck, I may wake up some morning and find out my only option to get to work is to do a mini triathlon: biking from Lortondale to the River, swim across, run across the trail improvement area on the west bank carrying my bike, and finally back on the bike at W. 41st.  ;D

I'm just trying to figure out how you are going to swim across the river with bike in tow.

Graft.  Corruption.

After years of diverting tax money meant for roads and bridges to other pet projects, we are now starting to see the results.

It's all a conspiracy between the media and the construction companies! Isn't it?

Somehow, I've got a feeling this is all the fault of Kathy Taylor and Barack Hussein Obama. And.... Bush ('cuz he hates black people). :P

No, I think Bush just hated Kanye West.

Can you blame him?  I bet Taylor Swift doesn't think much of him.

Beyonce, on the other hand...

I say blame it on the county commisioner scandal of the late 70's.

Oklahoma's complete neglect of Tulsa's highway system is really taking hold now. I-44 out east has been closed repeatedly recently for several failing bridges, I-44 at Harvard was closed last week for a sinkhole and now this.

Apparantly it was reported on the news this morning as the hole was noticed after a wreck occured on the bridge.  This afternoon it was reported as being caused by the wreck.  I'm trying to figure out how, if there was not a car rolling over or flying through the air, a wreck can cause a hole in a bridge.  Maybe it was after 1 Baker 11 was in pursuit of the 1973 yellow Mustang, but I would have thought they would have been gone in 60 seconds (sorry, seeing dbacks tagline as I'm typing and couldn't resist that one).  I see a finger pointing game starting here.

Really?  That's an awful long time for that hole to take to form in the bridge.

Actually for it to be truly Bush's fault, it started with the stolen election in 2000.  Just being technically accurate.

So I noticed 75 was reopened this morning.

Was it not as bad as was being said?

There was another news article that it might have been open for rush hour later in the day.  Who knows if they really 100% fixed it though.

We must be getting pretty good at filling those then.

Obviously, with all the practice ODOT is getting on them this spring.

I-44 had a sink hole last week closing down both east & west bound trafic. Guess nows it's highway 75's turn.
