Many remember him from his Black Sabbath days; I liked him better as a solo artist.
RIP Ronnie...sure makes me feel a lot older today.

Tenacious D - "Dio"
QuoteDio has rocked (echo: rocked) for a long, long time,
Now it's time for him to pass the torch.
He has songs of wilderbeasts and angels,
He has soared on the wings of a demon.
It's time to pass the torch,
You're too old to rock, no more rockin' for you.
We're takin' you to a home,
But we will sing a song about you.
And we will make sure that you're very well taken care of.
You'll tell us secrets that you've learned. Woah!
Your sauce will mix with ours,
And we'll make a good goulash baby.
Dio, time to go!
You must give your cape and scepter to me.
And a smaller one for KG.
Go! Go! Dio! Dio!

Jack Black! I have that album. Never got a chance to see the movie though.
Yesterday morning. 67 years old. Stomach Cancer.
I loved his solo career also. I wish I would have had the chance to see him.
The one thing that amazed me was when I found out how short he was. Huge voice in that tiny frame. Gonna miss ya RJD.

Yeah, a lot like Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) in that regard (physical size vs hugeness of voice).

I hear that name and immediately think of this:

Was anyone else aware that THE Bruce Dickinson also has his type rating to fly as a captain on Boeing 757's and he flies as a charter pilot? Great cocktail party trivia.

Not surprsing.
Chris Degarmo (former lead guitarist for Queensryche) holds an ATP cert (for non aviation geeks, that's Air Transport Pilot) for a Hawker HS125 and Learjet. He flies as a charter pilot.
Has anyone ever seen the home in Florida that John Travolta lives in? The neighborhood is full of pilots, with a full on private airfield in the middle of it all. He flys a 707 that he parks up to his home.

Threshold to threshold, approx 3800 feet on that runway using Google Earth ruler...major pucker time, a little over 7000 feet including the run-off areas. How much you want to bet Travolta paid for the extensions?

I'd lose. Even with that thing bled off of fuel, during landing he's full on reversers and feet-thru-the-floor brakes I'm betting.

Top that off with the high density altitude on a July day. Nucking futs!

Travolta flew his 707 into Deer Valley Airport in north Phoenix last year, and managed to tick off alot of people. The runway is long enough but the outboard enginges hung over the edges of the runway and blew debris all over the place. They had to clos the runway for three hours to clean and inspect it. I'll look tonight and see if I have any pics of it.

Not very environmentally friendly. I bet he could have gotten by with the lowly G-5 that weekend.

It really stood out. You could see the tail from almost a mile away. As i was driving towards the airport I saw it and then saw the Qantas logo and had to pull in and check it out.
Not my blog by the way.

Normaly the biggest planes there are an old C134, a Grumman Albatross and G-4 G-5's. There's a large collection of WWI and WWII and Viet Nam era aircraft incuding a couple of F-8's.
bot
He was one of the best in heavey metal from the 70's, he will be missed.

He also flies their jet when the band is on tour.

Think of the 707 as a really big Hummer.

With about a 2000 gal/hour fuel burn at that. Amazing a global warming alarmist like Travolta flies a hog like that. Well, no, not so surprising: "Do as I say..."

Aahh, they are spreading the word of God don'tcha ya know.
How's this for some crazy hatred?
"Canton High School 76 Simonds Ave. WBC to picket Canton High School where they are promoting sodomy by showing The Laramie Project. Matthew Shepard's parents hated him and taught him to rebel against God's plain commandments. The result: he was out trolling for drugs and fag sex in a cowboy bar at midnight. He was killed when the drug deal went south. His mother and every fag in the world has lied to you about those facts and has made him their poster child for sin. The only important thing about his death is that he is in hell where he will spend eternity. If you follow his example and live his filthy life, you will meet the same end. God said, "thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination." (Lev. 18:22) Anti-Christ Beast Obama and every adult in your life says, God is a liar; it's okay to be gay. They do that to justify their own sins. You are entitled to hear the truth, and we will tell you. Fags Doom Nations! America is Doomed! The time is short! Come out from among them and be not partakers of their sins! Go with us, the way is good! Amen! "
Someone needs to remind Pastor Phelps God hates wife beaters and child beaters. I suspect he will get the "pineapple treatment" when he decends.
Anyone up for opening a Jim Jones Kool-Aid stand at the funeral to help cool down the protesters ? ;)
