Title: More Arrests in the Times Square Attempted Bombing
Post by: Gaspar on May 13, 2010, 03:19:00 PM
3 more arrests today.  All have expired visas.

By arresting them on "administrative charges," Eric Holder has figured out how to keep the two caught in New England from being Mirandized.

Clever.

One would think that this would put even more emphasis on immigration, but I notice that the story is third page news on the state run media (CNN, MSNBC, Et al.).  Front page stuff for the wire agencies.

Has this become some kind of embarrassment to the administration that they want it buried?

You've obviously been watching Beck.

Need some tissues yet?

Glenn Beck?  LOL!  Sorry, nope.  He's the right's equivalent of Matthews.

I have the AP and Reuters RSS feeds, along with the Telegraph UK, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, and FOX.  I like to compare what they think is important.  You can get a really clear picture of what the admin wants buried compared to what the world thinks is important. Run them side by side on Mac or Win7.

Another fun one is running my Scottrade ticker next to AP and chart who affects the market most when they open their mouth.

Really?  I always thought Tweety was a little more moderate than that.  I figured you'd compare him to Olby instead of Tweety.

On a related note, check Lewis Black's take on Glenn (this is him on the Daily Show).  Great stuff:

I still love the Daily Show.  It's news for people who don't want to watch the news.  The ADD/ADHD/MTV crowd can get the "instant gratification entertainment" with a little sprinkling of news and current event vocabulary to use around the workplace so they don't appear to be total idiots.

I stopped watching Stewart for a while because he just became venomously liberal, but now in comparison with the other networks, he's tame. . .and he is funny!

I appreciate a good entertainer, but I attach no weight to their opinion, political or otherwise. They are not producers.  Their roll is unique, in that they provide relief from reality and make us smile.  They are reliant on opinion, far more so than even the politician.

We live in a funny time, where journalists strive to be entertainers and entertainers pretend to be journalists.  The product of this is a public that is confused as to what is real news.

Earlier this week, a girl at work asked if I had watched the evening's coverage of the Elana Keegan nomination and I said yes.  She said it was hilarious.  I asked her what network she was talking about and she said The Daily Show.

Tweety has a poster of President Obama tacked on his bedroom and bathroom ceilings.  He salivates when he talks about him.

Actually that's kind of disturbing.  I remember when he made that comment, it was during the intoxicated electogasm of Hope n' Change.  A lot of media people made stupid, raciest, and otherwise thoughtless comments.  They literally lost their minds for a few months.  In hindsight, the dialogue during Obamma-mania is quite embarrassing.

I think that the one thing that this administration has done far better than the Bush or Clinton admins is controlling the message.  From muzzling Geithner, and Biden when they proved to be liabilities, to producing their own interviews and media specials for distribution to the networks, they know how to keep control over the journalists.

How they were able to pass tens of trillions of dollars and thousands of pages of legislation without allowing the public (or even congress) to have an opportunity to read it still amazes me.  They have total control over information, and have essentially closed the capital to the public.  We went from a murky and opaque White House to complete curtain.

Well, probably not the Illuminati, given that one third of the Trilateral Commission is at war with them (the Vatican).

I see your left mouse button is broken. You might want to get that fixed. It allows you to click on links.

If that mammal isn't a beaver, what is it? My first thought was gopher, but then I decided it didn't look much like a gopher and looked more like the beavers that lived behind an apartment I used to live in.

Looks a lot like the fuzzy tailed rats I see in our front yard digging in my potted pepper plants.

The squirrels I see around usually have lighter coloring on the chest. Luckily, the squirrels in my neighborhood just eat the birdseed my neighbor leaves out.  :P

We have mostly red squirrels around here.  I've seen a few grey ones but not many.  Last year they ate all of our early tomatoes.  I started putting tabasco sauce on the green tomatoes and it slowed the squirrels some but not completely.  Nasty little animals.  They will also chew the wood trim on your house.  If it weren't for their "cute bushy" tails, everyone would shoot them.

My house had that happen; had to have the soffets replaced on the NW corner of the house.  I took care of the problem:

I cut down every tree that afforded them access to my roof.

Good start but I've seen those boogers climb almost anything, even brick walls.  I've also seen a snake use the recess in the mortar between the bricks to climb our front wall.

I've seen 'em try on my house, but most seem disinterested as I've sealed up most every place they can access my attic.
