I have recently dismantled an 8 foot aluminum C band satellite dish and was wondering if there are any avenues for recycling this monster, or might I be better off putting this up on Craigslist? Or any other suggestions? I'm guessing the city won't haul this monster off.
I have the mount, the dish and an old actuator motor. Whether or not the motor works is questionable; the mount is 25 years old and cast iron.
Any suggestions on what to do with it (outside of making a great multi-person dirt surfing rig) will be appreciated

Try "Advanced Metals Recycling" at 2300 N. Lewis, (just north of Pine & Lewis) they take in all sorts of metals and things that can be recycled. There are other recycling places around that area.
Too big for me to haul, even with a regular sized pickup truck which I have access to. I need to have someone come get it, if possible. Although it's pretty big, it weighs next to nothing for its size (about 50 lbs I'd guess).

Hoss. Dont ya miss the good ol C-Band day's. I had a 10 Foot Unimesh C/KU LNBs.
At the end of the popularity of the big dish I upgraded to the GI 4-DTV receiver.
Man the wild feeds were always entertaining and the amount of channels available was second to none.
I have had Dish Network and I am now a DirecTV subscriber. Cable TV is fine, but I will always be a Satellite guy.

Yep, I remember when I could get all those cable stations (premiums also) in the clear by just buying the satellite (the one I just took down was a solid aluminum 8 foot that we ordered and put together ourselves).

Hmmmm, perhaps I could use it in an art project. Would like to see some pics if you get any. Could possibly be used as a dome in a ceiling and or part of an art-deco display. I get first dibs if I like what I see lol. ;D

If you're serious William then sure. Currently it has a coat of latex beige on it, but it's not rusted (the dish itself isn't since it's aluminum) and if interested it's yours for zero. Worst came to worst you could always sell it from scrap aluminum; I hear it goes for about 60 cents on the pound. It weighs probably around 60 lbs. More bulky than anything else.
I'll PM you a link to the photos; I'll have to do it tomorrow though, the lighting would be tough to make it really very visible unless I photograph it in the daytime.
